My Somewhat beautiful Johannesburg

Advantages: Vibrant, plenty to do, fantastic people
Disadvantages: crime

I had the opportunity of visiting Johannesburg in a very different light in January of this year, as a tourist. For you see I was born and raised there, but my boyfriend is very much English and had never been to Africa. When you are born somewhere you tend to disregard alot of the tourist stuff (much what my boyfriend does in London) which I can now see I missed out. Johannesburg is a thriving bustling city with its great history, and vibrant people it is very captivating, and holds you in its grips long after you have left. Yes there is a safety aspect to life in Johannesburg, but so is there to most places you go too, and generally if you hold your wits about you and be smart for the most you will be fine and shouldn't come across anything too big (although this is not a guarantee). I know how off putting it can be when you ...

Pokemon Emerald - Gotta Catch 'em All!!

Advantages: Hundreds of hours of game play
Disadvantages: You're not going to complete it unless you get your friends involved

Introduction Pokemon Emerald was bought out in the UK in 2005 for the Game Boy Advance (GBA). As with all Game Boy games you can use them on new platforms that are released, for example: A GBA game works in a Nintendo DS and DS lite A Gameboy Color game works in a GBA, a Nintendo DS and DS lite A Gameboy game works in a Gameboy Color, a GBA, a Nintendo DS and DS lite Very handy to know as Nintendo don't tend to make many of the classic games for their newer platforms. I bought my copy of Pokemon Emerald second-hand from Game in 2006 and it cost me around £25, sounds a lot I know as it was only £30 new but this really was the going rate at the time as the game is fairly rare. Pokemon Emerald is very similar to Ruby or Sapphire, it basically has a few added tweaks but overall the same game. So if you already Ruby ...

Review of Pokemon Emerald (GBA)

Emerald - the best Pokemon game to date!

Advantages: fun, good variety of pokemon
Disadvantages: can be irritating and repetitive

Before I start this review, I should mention that I am older than the age group the Pokemon games are usually geared at. I am 18, and my boyfriend who has also been playing these games is 19. I have tried to give a good all-round opinion of the game, but please bear this fact in mind! If you have played any of the previous Pokemon games or watched any of the cartoons or movies, you already know the idea behind this game. Pokemon Emerald features you as a pokemon trainer, travelling the land whilst collecting and battling Pokemon as you go. The idea behind the games are pretty simple, and it's easy to catch on as to what you're supposed to be doing after just a few minutes of game play. Though at face value the game is very simple, it can also be seen as a game of strategy. For those of you who already own Sapphire or Ruby, this game ...
