I have travelled with Emirates to Dubai, Sydney & Singapore on more than one occassion with Emirates and have always arrived at my destination in a good mood and ready for work. Emirates are not a budget airline, but appear to pride themselves on having a superb quality of service. If I wanted to find cheaper flights I could do so with the likes of Singapore Airlines or one of the other middle east companies, but I find it more important to arrive feeling ready for whatever I am going to do.
Treatment
On each occassion I have travelled with Emirates I have been treated courteously and even when I have wanted to change flights half way through a flight so I don't have to hang around for a connecting flight in Dubai, they have helped.
Food & Drink
If you like eastern food, you will love the food on this airline as it tastes fresh and full of flavour. I can't stand the taste of some airline meals, but I could eat this every day. I am not much of a drinker, so cannot really comment on the drinks, but there appears to be plenty of choice on board.
Entertainment
There is plenty of quality entertainment on the flight with god knows how many channels. There was only one flight that I went on where there was only about 12 channels to choose from (Dubai - Gatwick). On Emerate you can even watch the cameras on the outside of the plane, so you can even watch the plane landing if you've got the bottle!
Legspace
I am not the smallest person in the world, but I find there to be ample space on board. The seats are comfortable and allow you to fall to sleep with ease.
Overall
A great airline for longhaul flights. London - Australia requires plenty of comfort and good service. This is an airline that offers this.
