I flew Birmingham to Hong Kong via Dubai and as soon as I boarded the plane it was like being a kid in a sweet shop - being used to short haul, shared tv, screaming children, plastic food and fat bald men in hawaian shorts. To suddenly be surrounded by business men and faced with my own tv, games controller and menu I wanted to jump around and get all excited.
The trip there was good - cabin crew on tap, plenty of things to do except sleep and dubai airport is magnificent, duty free exceptionally cheap.
The flights went quickly and without a hitch.
The day we were due to fly back, my boyfriend got fifty plus mosquito bites on his lower legs, meaning his ankles swelled and were painful. Emirates did everything they could to get us fire escape seats for extra space and while it wasn't possible on the trip to Dubai, they guarenteed us the seats from Dubai to back home. On the way to Dubai, his ankles got worse, and after speaking to cabin staff on landing, we were escorted to a lounge with Playstations and sweets for unaccompanied children, and he was taken to the medical area and given medication while I played to my heart's content.
The flight from Dubai home was to the same high standard, while my one gripe was the children in the row behind delighting in kicking my seat.
We would, and are, flying with Emirates again, this time to Australia, and would recommend them to anyone.
