After reading good reviews, we booked our flight with Emirates....BIG MISTAKE !!!
We do international travel once a year. Posting this so that fellow travellers can learn from our mistake:
1. If you have a connecting flight (we had Chicago to New York on Delta and then Emirates: New York to Dubai and Dubai to Kolkata, India), the luggage is not checked through, even though we had one ticket PNR. The Emirates Sales representative promised that the luggage will be checked in but at the Chicago airport we were told of 12 hour stopover restriction. Our Mistake No. 1 in choosing Emirates. We were given misleading information about luggage check-in at the point-of-sale of tickets
2. Emirates reservation agent assured us repeatedly that Emirates will provide us basinet for our 10 month old son for the 14 hr 20 min journey(New York to Dubai). We arrived 5 hours before to make sure we dont miss the basinet but were told that our son is older than age limit. Mistake No. 2 in choosing Emirates: They promise but dont deliver.
3. Adult food is excellent but baby food/meal was not provided. We paid $ 500 for infant travel and we expected better service.
4. Emirates Airhostesses will avoid you in the plane if you have a crying baby (which was the case with our baby as he could not sleep in the 14 hr journey without basinet). We were mistaken in expecting understanding and professional behaviour from a world class crew.

If you are still enthu about flying by Emirates, Good Luck and God Bless You. As for us, we will pay any premium to fly by any other airlines (AA, NWA, KLM, Luftansa, British Airways, Air India, Al Italia) in our next trip.
