The Floating Gardens of Mexico City

Advantages: Unique day or half day trip
Disadvantages: A fair distance out of town

Having lived in Mexico City since the start of July, I can't believe it's taken me over 3 months to visit this place, since it's one of the most famous attractions in the city and has been since the 1920s. Xochimilco (soch-ee-milk-oh) is an area located to the south of the city, known for its series of canals, the remains of old Lake Xochimilco. Quick trivia here, this was home to canoeing and rowing competitions when Mexico hosted the Olympics back in 1968. ~ Getting There and When To Go ~ Xochimilco isn't just a bit south of the city, it's a long way away, so much so that it took me over an hour to get there and I already live south of the centre. Metros only run as far as Tasqueña (end of Line 2, the blue one) and from there you can either catch the Tren Ligero ("electric train" or as I would call it...a tram) or take ...

A Green Oasis In The City

Advantages: Loads of free stuff to see and do
Disadvantages: Can be busy at weekends

The Bosque de Chapultepec, also known as Chapultepec Park is a 1600 acre expanse of green space to one side of Mexico City Centre, which has been a public park since the 16th Century, and remains one of the largest in the world. Within its gates there are many different things to see and do, and I have whiled away many a weekend here. LOCATION The park is located on the outskirts of the city, to the west of the main attractions such as the Zócalo. I have walked from there to here, and it took over an hour, so is not recommended (the route, along Reforma, is not too interesting). Being so large, it can be entered from various directions and is served by various Metro stations including Chapultepec, Auditorio and Constituyentes which are a much better option. OPENING TIMES While the various attractions within the park have ...

CITY CHIC

Advantages: smells nice, fantastic staying power
Disadvantages: too strong and heavy for some

City Glam is a fragrance which was first released in 2005 by Giorgio Armani; I have always liked the Giorgio Armani fragrances and have quite a few of them in my perfume collection so as soon as I spotted City Glam in my local Chemist's I had to buy it, and I knew I would like it. I paid £25 for a small 30ml bottle of City Glam Eau De Parfum approximately 7 months ago although Boots sell a 30ml bottle of the perfume for £22 according to their website. As you can see from the picture at the top of this review the bottle of perfume is supplied in a tall cylindrical pink bottle, which City Glam written in silver lettering. I think that the bottle looks quite stylish and plain because it is supplied in a metal tin as opposed to a glass bottle. Most of the Emporio Armani fragrances for both men and women are supplied in the metal tins ...
