...on that aspect, but all facilities (closed until mid December) seemed to be available.
When we arrived there had still been no snow. Even the peaks were almost naked after the summer.
The second day we began to drive to StMoritz (about 20-25 miles on a good road) and the snow began to fall with a vengeance. We had to turn back, it was a blizzard. We retreated into the house, ate a little and waited. The snow was hardly more than spindrift by the time twilight crept in upon us. We decided to venture out, into a completely private winter wonderland. There were no tourists, most of the locals were taking their annual holiday.
Everything was fresh, white and magical. We stood on the far side of the river and watched the lights come on in the little town. It truelly was a private Christmas eve out of a childhood dream.

Advantages: Good for children and adults Disadvantages: Vast
...From December 1st all national museums are free icluding the Railway Museum. However, my recent visit to the Railway Museum at York cost £22.50 for three adults and three children (admission for children is free). Nevertheless, the NRM made a brilliant day out. It’s a great place for railway enthusiasts and children alike. I was not expecting anything quite as vast as this museum – believe me – it’s absolutely enormous. So if you are planning a visit, try and make a day of it but even if you can’t spare that sort of time – half a day in this museum is worthwhile. As you might imagine full of trains – so it has to be vast to accommodate them all. Put a good pair of walking shoes on because there is a lot of walking to do.
How to get there
The NRM is ten minutes walk from York Railway...

Advantages: Currently free entry, A full day out, constantly updating exhibits.. Disadvantages: Not good for a rainy day
...I visited St. Fagan's on 30th June and took my digi camera with me. I have added some pictures with short descriptions..
If you like seeing how country people lived out their lives from yester-year, you could do no better than pay a visit to St. Fagan's Museum about 5 miles west of Cardiff. Set in around 100 acres of parkland, I feel this museum to be unique, although being Welsh, I may be a little biased!
You would need to be prepared to spend several hours or even an entire day here because there is so much to see in the grounds and it is constantly being added to. What follows are the features I found particularly interesting…
· St Fagan's Castle is an Elizabethan manor house built within the walls of a medieval castle. It is surrounded by large gardens that include terraces and water features
· There are a number...
