A San Frantastic Boutique Hotel

Advantages: The price, the location, the staff, the rooms, everything
Disadvantages: ...our shower was like needles

Introduction: So, we're stuck in Albuquerque, and have pretty much seen about as much desert as we can take. We've 'done' all there is to do. With a spare weekend on our hands, we decided to take advantage of our Geographical positioning and take a trip to somewhere on the west coast. I've always wanted to see San Francisco, and after looking into flights, we found some bargains. So off we go. We looked for reasonable hotels, and came across The Petite Auberge, it wasn't the cheapest we found, but it had an appealing charm that won us over, so we booked. Company info: The Petite Auberge is part of the Joie De Vivre chain, I found this information on their website: "Joie de Vivre Hotels is California's largest boutique hotel company. Started in San Francisco in 1987 by Chip Conley, while in his mid-twenties, Joie de ...

Review of Petite Auberge, San Francisco

San Jose

Advantages: Good night life, relaxed.
Disadvantages: Crime, not much culture.

I lived In Costa Rica for 6 years and I spent most of my time in the capital, San jose, which is what I am writing about now. The city itslef is quite small for a capital city but it makes it easyto navigate (up to a point!!). San Jose is located right in the middle of the country in what is called the 'central valley' although it isn't actually a valley. The airport is in the north west of the city, actually outside San Jose. Actually most of the decent hotels are outside the center too. I cannot really recommend and as I have not really used one but I did stay in the Hampton Inn once and it was fine. Taxis Use them, they are cheap. A 30 minute drive could set you back the enourmous cost of £1.20!! They are red with a yellow triangle on the door. They are official but there are pirates around. Don't use them is my ...

Review of San José (Costa Rica)

Nice place to visit

Advantages: Weather And location
Disadvantages: The smell

noticed about Cabo Wabo - it stunk like a sewer and we noticed a sewer close to the entrance (inside the club). Incredible - c'mon Sammy - gotta do something about this. Yikes!!! We always felt safe in Cabo, the locals spoke English pretty well, they were friendly and the locals all came from somewhere else. I didn't see anyone begging on the streets and the locals looked well fed. Cabo is a relatively "new" town and very few people actually come from Cabo. They come to Cabo to work and they come from all over their country. Cabo is a very expensive resort town and the tourists were pretty well-off financially and I didn't notice any riff-raff floating around. Since there are so many beautiful places to visit around the world, my policy is to never visit the same place twice. I liked Cabo alot but I won't be back. One additional recommendation ...
