Corus Magnificus

Advantages: CLEAN, LOCAL IDEAL TO COMMUTE
Disadvantages: CRAMPED SPACE

When I decided on a short break down to London, I was totally stumped on somewhere to stay that was really close to the main attractions and also steered by the price. The Corus Hotel Hyde Park looked to be in an ideal location just 5 minutes walk from Lancaster Gate Tube station (100 yards)and 15 minutes away from Heathrow Airport where I had flown into perfect I thought. This hotel overlooks the infamous Hyde Park, hence the name and was only 3 stops from shoppers paradise. As you approach the hotel you firstly spot the restaurant which is located at the front, you need to walk past this and turn right at the corner of the building to enter the reception, here you are greeted by two members of staff on the reception and there is also a concierge on hand to assist you with your bags. Check-in process was really simple ...

The Great Grange

Advantages: Great Location, Huge Executive Rooms
Disadvantages: Quite expensive

I stayed at the Grange Holborne for 2 nights in April 2005. The trip was a special birthday treat for my mother and it was important to me that the hotel was particularly special. When I was looking for a hotel for our stay I saw that this came highly recommended by a number of websites and so booked an executive twin at a cost of £135.00 per night. On checking in we quickly noticed that, although the reception area was quite small, the staff all seemed to be incredibly efficient and helpful. We arrived quite early and although our room wasn't ready they quickly arranged for us to leave our luggage so that we could get on with enjoying our trip to the big city. Although the room we had reserved was an executive twin, I think we may have been upgraded to a mini-suite (I had emailed the hotel to tell them about Mum's birthday when I ...

THE GRANGE, LONG WITTENHAM, BED & BREAKFAST

Advantages: friendly owners, good location
Disadvantages: none

My husband is originally from Wallingford in Oxfordshire. Most of his family live in North Devon as do we, but we travel up occasionally to see some of his old friends. Last year we were looking for a cheap B&B in the Wallingford area and this was the closest that we could find. Long Wittenham is a lovely village which is about a 15 minute drive from Oxford. The village itself has three pubs which all serve good food and entertainment. The Grange is a small Bed & Breakfast in Long Wittenham. We have stayed there two years running over the Easter weekend so I thought I would write a review on them. Graham Neil runs The Grange. It only has around four bedrooms, only one of which is ensuite. Mr Neil lives there with his wife and his two dogs, Florrie and Harriet. EASTER 2005 +++++++++++++ This was our first visit to ...
