Since writing this review, i have been on three more Eurocamp holidays and all i can say is they have been even better, I will update on those ones shortly.

Sorry a bit long this one but so much to say on it..

I discovered Eurocamp by accident last year while searching on the internet trying to find a good family holiday but at a low affordable price.

We are quite a large family comprising of myself, my husband and 4 young very active sons of 10yrs, 8yrs, 7yrs and an 18 month old, so this was not an easy task. We have had many good holidays in Britain but wanted to go abroad as we never have together as a family before, mainly due to the cost.

While searching for long periods on the internet for a great affordable holiday i was getting more and more disheartened thinking i would have to yet again tell the kids we could not go abroad, the cheap holidays i came across were not that cheap in fact after you added on all the supplements etc for things like rooms which had to be either 3 or 4 persons full, which also meant we would not all be together.

I then came across the Eurocamp site and just thought i would have a quick browse. I found out that Eurocamp has been going for over 20yrs now and specialise in family camping self drive holidays in Europe, they have 167 different parks to choose from in and around France, Spain, Italy, Adriatic, Croatia, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Holland. Belgium and Luxembourg and they have two types of accommodation to choose from.

Under canvas which is a super tent that can sleep up to a maximum of 6 people (maximum 4 adults) there are camp beds with proper mattresses on them, a full size fridge, a grill with 4 gas rings and all the utensils, crockery and cutlery etc provided including a washing up bowl, cleaning equipment and cookware, a table inside and also an outside table and chairs, some also provide BBQ's. They also have electric lighting and plug sockets.

The other accommodation are holiday caravan homes which can sleep 6 but also they have some which sleep up to 8 and provide all the same equipment as the canvas. Which is mainly what my opinion view is on as this is what we stayed in.

I looked at the site for some time, which was very easy to use, very informative and explained each site well and what each site had on it like shops, laundry, restaurants, activities and bars, it also had some information on what was out and about around the site and the local areas, it also had clear colourful pictures of the sites and accommodation.

The site also had help sections to help you choose the type of holiday you preferred such as quiet and relaxing, more to see, more to do or more lively holiday, after putting in your options it offered the parks it thought would best suit you.

It also explained all about the children's activities and the different children's clubs that some parks offer like Leos fun station which is aimed at the 4+ age group, 7+Fun station, 10+ for the older ones or Base for 13+ for the teenagers, it also explained about the parks couriers and what they do, each park has a team of couriers who live on site to help with most things and also some take children's clubs, where they take the kids off your hands for 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon and do activities with them from anything like sports to painting or treasure hunts.

I decided to have a brochure sent to me which came within a few days, it contained all the information the site did and they were easy to use together, also it contained ferry, flydrive and Euro tunnel information, plus information all other things like passports, driving abroad etc.

We decided to book with them and choose to go to a site in Brittany in France, you can create your own holiday, choose which ports you want to use and you can mix your holiday so that you can go to just 1 site or stay at a few different sites. Being are first we decided to stay on one site under canvas for 14 nights in early June.

I telephoned my booking although you can book on line also, i found booking it so easy, the staff were friendly and very helpful and i had booked my holiday within 10 minutes and you only need to pay a £50 deposit. You can pay off the rest as you like as long as its fully paid within 8 weeks of departure. The cost of the ferry is in your price but you may make alternative or your own arrangements for a small supplement. They can also arrange cabins on the ferries if wanted or other special arrangements.

Total cost for holiday was £689. Eurocamp can also give you a good price on holiday insurance, but we found our own which worked out more cheaper for us.

A few days after booking we received a conformation letter and a few weeks later received a holiday pack from Eurocamp containing all the maps we would need, a local guide book which proved to be very useful, a cap each for the 3 older boys and a swim ring and armbands for my youngest, also a travel game, pack of cards and some leaflets and a travel document holder & pen with all the necessary documents in, it was very handy and useful.

On the day of our departure we were all very excited but also apprehensive as we had never used Eurocamp before and hoped it was all as we expected.

Everything went according to plan with the travel and we found the park site very easy to find.
We were welcomed by our courier who showed us are accommodation and explained to us where everything was and what was on the site and around. The accommodation was exactly as explained in the brochure and online and everything was provided. It was clean and comfortable and although not huge was spacious enough for us all.

We had a brilliant holiday, the kids were kept amused with the kids couriers and there was also many extras on the sites at very good prices so the kids were able to do Swimming which was free in the 3 pools, tennis at a small charge around £2, horse trekking for one and a half hours for about £10, Archery for an hour about £4.50, adventure climbing for about £6 and rock climbing around £5, these were all taken by qualified and experienced trainers, also on site for all to use at no charge was table tennis, 2 parks, trampoline and badminton.

The kids could also borrow board games, sport equipment, books, art stuff and toys from the couriers for no charge. Also available were bikes to hire, canoeing and walking trips.

The park was kept very clean and although we had 'a more to do' holiday it was not noisy and was very relaxed. The toilet and shower blocks were kept very clean and the water was always hot. The park also had special areas for washing up dishes for those under canvas. The bin area was kept clean and clear at all times and had sections for recycling.

The other visitors on site were not only mainly British but had many nationalities and the kids made many friends.

Overall we had a brilliant time and we had no faults at all, the only one downside was having to go to toilets in middle of the night, but not a real big problem.

When we got home, we had booked up our next holiday which we will be taking in June this year, this time we are going to Spain for 18 nights and having a couple of stops on the way, im sure it will be as great as the last one and i cant wait.

Just a quick update, we booked our holiday and yet again received very good and helpful service, we have had no problems at all and are all ready and set for the trip.
Euro camp has kept us up to date all along and we have found this an invaluable service.

Thanx for the read. x

Just came across this review as we are thinking of eurocamp again this year. Went to Spain last year though we stayed in a caravan (at 6 months pregnant I couln't face a tent) and thought the whole experience and facilites brilliant - kids loved it - even being stuck in a caravan during a thunderstorm. Loads of freedom and very chilled out
