At the end of April 2006, we flew from Glasgow to Paphos. Well were were supposed to....
We arrived at Glasgow airport well before the flight and went into the main terminal building to check in. I went over to check what check-in desk we were going to until I found we were delayed 5 hours. We were a bit glum with this news but didnt get us down. We still checked in our 3 bags and the Eurocypria staff gave us food vouchers becasue of the delay. They were very helpful that there was a problem with the aircraft at Paphos and that we would have a short delay.
5 hours later...then 6...then 7 ! We were still waiting for news about our flight, getting very bored. I kept checking the flight departures board and when I went over I found the board saying we were having an indefinite delay ! I told the rest of this news and we all knew it wasnt good. However, 30 minutes later we had a message through the airport loudspeaker saying we needed to report downstairs to the flight desk. We did this straight away without any delay.
We arrived downstairs and waitied for an announcment on what was happening. We learned that there was something the matter with the aircraft in Paphos and we would not be flying tonight. Everybody seemed calm about this. They told us that we would be staying in the hotel over the road. The Glasgow airport hotel. We thought this was very good of them. We went to collect our luggage that we check in about 8 horus ago but waitied 1 and a half for them which wasn't on. After collecting the luggage we waitied to go over to the hotel but found out that we couldnt as yet as the hotel fire alarm had gone off !!! What else could possibly go wrong.
Finally we were able to go over and check in there. Everything was fine, a nice hotel room and food for tea and breakfast in the morning.
The morning came and we were up at 5am ready for the flight to Paphos. We had breakfast and went straight over to the check-in desks. The check-in desk staff told us that we were NOT going to land at Paphos but at the other end of the island, Larnaca. We were not at all happy with this news but had to accept it.
We went up to departures for the second time and waited to be called to board. Things after this started to go way down hill....
We then found out we were delayed another a hour ! Everybody at this point were getting sick and wished we hadnt booked after all.
Eventually the plane landed from Paphos and within 30minutes of that we boarded.
We left 50minutes late from Glasgow and then landed at Larnaca airport. After collecting all our luggage we went out to the buses to take us to our hotel and resort. This took another 30minutes and we found out that it would take us about 2hours to get to the resort. After that piece of bad news we found out that we would be the last to be dropped off !
We finally arrived in our resort of Paphos at about 11 30pm at night. We were all very hungry and the children tired. We could not have anything to eat as no restuarants were open. We went to bed tired, hungry and very angry.
We only had 5days left of our holiday as we were only staying for a week ! The thing was we didnt have any apologies or anything about the delay. This was very poor. If I was you, I wouldnt fly with Eurocypria ever again after what we had gone through. No compensation or anythin which we were promised. NEVER AGAIN !!!
