Awful. Never again!
Rooms: Tatty, dated, dark, dingy, stuffy. Mattresses lumpy and bedding worn and smelt damp. Furniture in the room was worn and grubby. Not as they state "They are also very comfortable and tastefully decorated". Windows filthy, mouldy and flimsy. I would not have felt safe on the ground floor. Hairdryer nailed to draw but unable to reach plug socket! Very little tea and coffee in the room and the milk was off! Noisy main road, M23, kept us awake when had to get up at 4am for a flight. No toiletries i.e. soap. TV remote had batteries missing. Then when I took it down for some, the remote did not work the TV anyway! TV buttons were broken. Poor quality picture. Not many channel choices. Web sites say they have a trouser press in the rooms; there was not one in either of our rooms. Breakfast only served after 5am. Odd when people are checking in and out all night and the desk is 24 hours. We paid for breakfast but could not have it as we left before 5am.
Pool: Very cold, not "Relax in the indoor heated swimming pool" as stated in brochures and on web site. Pool very shallow.
Charge just to use the pool. We did not want to use the gym or sauna.
Restaurants & bars: Asked if alternative in area, told no, but discovered a pub up the road. Drinks were expensive both in the bar and the restaurant. We opted for the restaurant upstairs. I was not offered a discount for being a vegetarian. I had to pay full price for the carvery although I was not having any of the meat (which is the most expensive part). The lady was very rude to me and told me there was plenty of salad! Would you pay £15 for a salad! There were barely any options on the "salad bar" either. For the rest of my party, the menu, and the web site state "whole roast joints" a choice of two meats. There was only one and that was a lump, not a joint of meat. Therefore, this was not fresh, it was processed. Once the vegetables had gone, that was it, no more was available! People were turning up late and had to make do with what there was! The food was tasteless, cold, dry and had clearly sat around for ages, or days! Including the puddings. My daughter had a bit of one and left it because it had no taste! The rest of us did not bother after that. I had to order a vegetarian lasagne to bulk out my meal. It was awful. Congealed and burnt. Needless to say, I did not eat it. We all left disappointed and hungry, not to mention about £70 out of pocket!
Staff: Reception staff were difficult to understand. No help with all our luggage and golf clubs. No postage facilities. I was happy to pay to have something sent but was told this was not possible. I had to wait 8 days to post something urgent. The bar and restaurant staff were rude. Most of the time you did not know if they had heard you as they just ignored you and never made eye contact. We felt as if we were putting them out! Lady that took payment in upstairs restaurant was especially rude. Complaint was met with the usual "no-body else has complained" although I posted the cuts from review sites like Trip Advisor and Holiday Watchdog. They said we could have discount when we next stay. No thank you!
