The Europa Hotel in Belfast is right in the city centre close to everything you will need. It’s a lovely four star hotel that was last renovated in 1998 and is now the biggest hotel in Northern Ireland thanks to its new extension. The bus from Belfast International airport drops you off very close by at the main bus station. The Bus cost £5 single or £8 return and times can be found at http://www.citybus.co.uk/keytables_airbus.asp. The buses leave from the bus stop to the right of the terminal Building and takes approximately 35 minutes.
I stayed there on Saturday night and was well impressed by the quality of the hotel.
First Impressions +++++++++++++
It’s a ten storey modern building with a glass front. The hotel is located on Great Victoria Street which is about 1 minutes walk from the main train and bus station, so its very handy for a base to visit areas outside of the city.
I was very impressed with the staff. One of the main reasons was that I telephoned the night beforehand and asked if I could check in early subject to them having space. Mary on the telephone from the hotel explained that the hotel was full, but she would see what she could do for me. I checked in at about 11.40 and was kindly helped by the reception clerk and she swapped rooms to one that had been serviced. This was great service and was no trouble to the staff at all.
Room Information +++++++++++++
The windows are doubled glazed (So You should not hear Tom kids!!! ) and runs the width of the room. The room has a large mirror opposite the door so this makes the room very bright because it reflects the light around the room.
The furniture in the room makes the hotel feel very elegant. So Elegant infact I mistakenly thought I had been upgraded from a standard room to a higher class of room!!. In the room I had a sofa which was handy for watching the city life below you and for watching the all-important television. The bed was a Queen sized double which was extreme comfortable and was neither too hard nor too soft.
The rooms had a large 25-inch TV with movies available at a cost of £7.95. Last hotel I stayed in had a 14-inch TV so I was glad for this. The room also had an Iron, trouser press, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom was clean and tidy and was well stocked with smellie’s.
Overall the condition and cleanliness of my room couldn’t be faulted.
Facilities +++++++
The hotel does not offer Gym or a swimming pool. But both can be found within 5 minutes drive from information according to their web site. There web address is http://www.hastingshotels.com/Hastings.asp?Page=Main&Hotel=europa
The Hotel is very handy at only a couple of minute’s walk for the excellent shopping shops that Belfast offers. There is a pub joined on to the hotel, which has a good atmosphere and reasonable priced beer at £2.50 a pint. Across the hotel are a couple more pubs, which are very friendly and lively, but did not offer a pool table so I could hammer Paddys_back again!!!!
Price. ++++
I stayed in a single room but was given a double. I tried the hotel and was quoted a £135 due to the fact they were so busy with a cricket group taking over the hotel that week. Utell also offer rates via travel agents at £90 room only, but this was still outside my budget.
I then tried a company called Superbreak which again is sold via travel agents and they offer special rates at the weekend of only £46 per person including Full breakfast.
Conclusion +++++++++
I did not get the change to eat at this hotel, but I will still write about it, as it’s one of the best I have ever stayed at. Normally I stay at 4 or 5 star Marriott or Radisson because of the good discounts I receive. The service was not over the top so it felt uncomfortable to stay there, but it was an extreme nice hotel, which I would recommend for both Business and Leisure trips to Belfast. A very friendly hotel.

Wish I had read this BEFORE I went to Belfast last month! I stayed at the Jury's just down the road, but it was a disappointment. Mind you, my company guidelines wouldnt have paid for the Europa, but it definitely sounds like my kind of place. Thansk for the tip, Jo
