We had a terrible experience with Goldcar in ALICANTE, spent 3 hours at their desk, always being dumped because of a customer behind us as if we were not customers ?! We booked a car from Goldcar online (using their Dealer "AutoEurope"), then when we arrived we had to pay the the fuel deposit. We had a VISA credit card and they tried using it and said it doesn't go through. We didn't have another credit card, they don't accept cash. But we used this card a ay ago for online shopping and t was working fine, never had issues with it before. We rang our bank, it said everything is fine with the card and they don't see that anyone would have been trying to charge it (Goldcar). Which means that there was something wrong with Goldcar's card processing system.. Then we were told to ring Autoeurope as they were the one's we dealt with the booking. After a number of attemps to reach Autoeurope we finally got to talk to them based in UK. They told us worst case we will have to book the card again in the airport (which will cost twice as much) and we will get the money back for the previous booking if we show proof that the card was actually working fine and it wasn't our fault. We were hesitating that the card doesn't work, so tried to book using it at another agent, next to Goldcar and the card went through without a problem!!! This was proof to Goldcar that it was not our fault. Nevertheless...... when we came back home from holidays and emailed Autoeurope with the proof, they started saying that it won't work out, because they want this and that and that info as well, for example, the names of employees we dealt with in Goldcar. Jezus, I won't start taking all their names during my holiday.. After a few unpleasant emails with Autoeurope (though my emails were at a very polite and professional level), we were left as it is. At the end of the day, it wasn't too much about money, but spending 3 nervous hours and always being disgustingly ignored by the employees ruined a good bit of our holiday. We only came for 3 days and we spent 1 day out of 3 trying to get out of stress they caused us... Is this a holiday? Btw, the other company we rented from was SOLMAR, thank you to a wonderful lady who was more than helpful from their team. Not even to compare... And SOLMAR's prices are not higher at all.
