...#25; Author's Note: This opinion was originally written in February 2001 to complain about poor customer service and fraudulent practice at JEA, and to question some of the views aired at Ciao about this airline in other ops. I have updated this op on June 11, 2001 to follow up on recent product changes at Jersey European / British European Airways, and to review how Ciao have reacted on my criticism of JEA's misrepresentation on Ciao's Airline League Table. Advantages: Good choice of airline, reasonable shopping
Disadvantages: Can be difficult to get around, public transport not brilliant

T4 is BA (longhaul and Paris, Amsterdam and Athens), KLM, Air Malta and Quantas. SHOPPING The best shopping is always to be found in the departure lounges. The BAA offer a price promise that no items are more expensive than what you would pay on the high street. Generally, there is a good selection of items available. PARKING Short term parking is prohibitively expensive (the BAA make more on car park charges than they do on landing fees!). There are also plenty of long term car parks but it is probably worth hunting around for off airport parking, which can be significantly cheaper. Advantages: Lots of leg room and good luggage allowance
Disadvantages: overbooking is apparently common

...although with no fashion show as it was a red-eye. I did get to see the film Billy Elliot though which I had missed in the cinema - quite strange to watch at 4am (or was it 10pm….?) Whilst in Jamaica we changed resorts and flew Air Jamaica Express between the two in a Twin Otter (a small turboprop). There was no attendant service on these flights, being only 20 mins or so but again the ground handling was slick and efficient. I would recommend AJ to anyone travelling to the Caribbean and would certainly use them again. Just check in early and don't get bumped!
