Advantages: More than just travel details Disadvantages: Oh God! He's a train spotter!
REVISED (19/10/03) TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE OPENING OF THE FIRST SECTION OF HIGH SPEED LINE IN KENT.
I thought I?d already written about Eurostar, but that was a trip to Brussels, so I won?t be forced to resurrect it.
With the first section of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL) open (since 28th September), this seems like as good a time as any to take stock, as I?ve now been to Brussels three times and Lille twice (yesterday being the last time. We went there for lunch at ?À L?Huitrière?* ? ?550 for four! Decadent? Moi?).
*probably the best meal I?ve had in living memory, but I digress.
Sorry, Paris lovers, you can take the place and stick it ?where the sun don?t shine?. If I wanted to get insulted and generally sh*t on, I could stay in London, where at least I?m somewhat more fluent in the local language.

Advantages: inexpensive, reliable, fast, refreshments available on board, more comfortable than many airlines Disadvantages: Lack of boarding information in Gare du Nord
Whilst recently booking a last minute trip to Paris, I found that the cost of the flights were out of my price range. However, I found that I could book a return ticket on the Eurostar for just £49.00. In my opinion this was fantastic value, especially considering that a train from Liverpool to London (a similar distance) will set you back at least £65.
The journey itself was pleasant, with both journeys arriving and departing on time.
The only problem that we did experience was embarking for the return journey. There was little information displayed, and as there were a large number of people in the waiting area, we assumed that we had to wait there to embark. However, the time for departure was fast approaching, and we discovered that the people waiting had checked in for the next departure. We made it to our seats with only a few ...

Advantages: A beautiful setting with some amazing animals Disadvantages: Is perhaps overshadowed by other attractions
Whilst in Barcelona earlier this year we were looking for somewhere to visit that hadn't been on my tourist's agenda on my previous visits. Having spent a morning at the aquarium in the port are we headed for the Zoo. Located in the middle of the City it is well signposted in every direction and features as one of the main stops on all of the sightseeing tour buses routes. There are a couple of car parks located near to all of the entrances and again this is all well signposted from the city's main access routes.
Over the last couple of years we've visited a few Zoos and Aquariums and it would be fair to say that Barcelona is one of the biggest Zoos. Like many Zoos these days they are signed up to the World Zoo conservation strategy and are committed to breeding programs for endangered species. Having opened for the first time in ...
