We visited Evi Studios, Rhodes in the resort of Pefkos during the October half term break. We stopped for one week and travelled with Airtours. Unfortunatley I cannot remeber how much we paid exactly, but it was definatley under £1000 for a family of four, 2 adults and 2 children.
We arrived at approximatley 01:00am and were showed to the room by the rep from the coach, as it wasn't a 24 hour reception.
THE ROOM We were in a two bedroomed apartment with one bathroom, adults in one room, kids in the other. The rooms and utensils were very basic but it had everything that you needed. We had a two ring hob but this heated up very slowly and as we had no kettle, you had to wait 10 mintues just for a cup of te! The apartment we had, had a shower and a bath and we found that there was always plenty of hot water. But the other family that we came with never had hot water and this resulted in them having to move rooms. There was plenty of storage for clothes etc, but we found that there wasn't many coat hangers so bringing your own is a must. On the back we had a small terrace that stretched the length of the apartment, but wasn't big enough to fit a table and four chairs on. On the other hand, at the front of the apartment, there was plenty of room and we found that this was where we got the most sun, especially in the morning so it was nice to sit out there and have breakfast. Cleaners came in 3 times a week, this may be different during the height of the season but this was the case in October.
THE COMPLEX Evi Studios are set in beautiful grounds with many flower beds surrounding it and set amoungst the apartments. The backdrop to our apartments was the mountains so it was all very pretty! At the bottom of the complex, there is a small walkway and down a few steps to the beach. So in other words, you have private access to the beach, but unfortunatley the beach isn't private! From what I remember, the beach was set in a cove and wasn't very pebbly, and the sea as pretty shallow. Because we visited in October, it wasn't really warm enough to sit around the pool in swimwear but we did sit round for a bit one day. The pool looked like it hadn't been cleaned for weeks and the water looked stagnant. There was green algae forming around the side on the tiles! It did not look inviting! This could be to do with the fact that it was about a week before the season ended but it was still no excuse.
In the complex, there was a small indoor bar "MedBar" next to the pool which served drinks, breakfast and snacks. We didn't try the food as we ate out every night so I cannot comment on this. The staff were very friendly, as all the Greeks are, and made you feel welcome.
FACILITIES SURROUNDING THE COMPLEX Evi studios is set right in the middle of Pekos, with only a two minute walk until you reach the centre, where all the bars and restaurants are. Even though it was the last week of the season, many of the bars were still open until late each night and seemed very lively inside. You weren't exactly spoilt for choice with the amount of restaurants there but there was a sufficient amount to choose from and we found one that we kept returning to every other night.
RHODES ITSELF We hired a car out while we were here and visited many of the other resorts, such as Rhodes Town and Faliraki. Faliraki was like a ghost town! You cannot imagine how it would look in the height of the summer!
Overall, the complex was very nice and so was the resort, but it was a shame about the pool. But I suppose it would of been worse if it was like that in the middle of summer! I would recommend this to families and couples wanting a relaxing break away.
