When we received our airline tickets and found we were travelling with Excel airways we were filled with trepidation. Is this an airline that is going to get us on holiday and if it does, will it get us home after?

Upon arrival at Manchester airport, early one Friday morning, the queue at the check-in desk was already long, but as the desk was already open, 20minutes early, we were through in no time at all.
Boarding was simple and fast with the young and infirm boarding first, disabled people taken with care by the excel flight crew first of all.
The plane was as standard Boeing 737-800, but it had leather seats, which did add that little extra comfort. There was the usual pre-flight safety video and announcements and then the in-flight movie, this was Shrek, a new film to me but not to all, but very funny.
The meal was the usual English breakfast, it was hot and tasty and the coffee and tea was refilled when requested, so in all it was good.
We arrived in Tenerife on time, exiting the plane was quick and the flight crew where all very polite and accommodating.
The return journey was tinged with apprehension due to the events in New York on the 11th Sept, but again the flight crew was excellent and set us at ease. The meal on the return flight was the best meal I have ever had on board a plane, chicken in pepper sauce with fresh vegetables – it was superb – my wife had the alternative of pasta in a tomato and herb sauce, this was also excellent.
In all as a budget airline Excel seem to have got it right- a good price (not the cheapest) and good quality.
