I enjoy travelling. I enjoy flying. I don't enjoy airlines. Most are cramped, staffed with crew who think they're better than you because they can walk up and down an aisle in high heels and feed you with food you wouldn't give to a dog!
Excel Airways couldn't have been more different. I had plenty of room to stretch out - being 6 foot tall is not always an advantage. However, to Excel this is not a problem, my partner prebooked extra leg room seats at no extra charge. The seats were all leather (on a low cost airline??!!), clean and comfortable. There was actually room to wiggle about in them, although this does draw some strange looks!
The staff were friendly and courteous. The safety video broke down on the outbound flight. The crew overcame this with complete professionalism, launching into the safety demonstration as if they did it every single flight.
The food was fantastic. I was sceptical at first, I mean the food is always the same - tepid and cardboardy. Not this time. It was piping hot, tasty and there was actually enough! The pudding was so moreish that my other half had to defend his with his cutlery...
In flight entertainment was ok, it kept me amused but the movies weren't to my taste. Not Excel's fault, that one's down to Hollywood!
It was almost a shame to get off the plane at the end (the draw of the Egyptian sun did it, the cold at Gatwick almost kept me on the plane!).
I would recommend Excel to anyone, and will definitely do my best to make sure we travel with them again in the future.
