We flew to Barbados in July 2006 with Excel, I booked the flights but after reading some bad reviews I was horrified and thought of cancelling the flights, my husband talked me out of cancelling. I was pleasantly surprised, we boarded the plane and it took off on time. There was plenty of leg room but I am only 5 foot one inch tall, there were no problems, food was very nice, attendants were very helpful and we arrived in Barbados on time. The flight home was just as good, no problems at all. Maybe we just struck lucky. I have to say that I would not book with Excel again, purely because I dont want to take the risk of having a nightmare flight as some other people have had. If you want to go away somewhere long haul for a very cheap price and are prepared to risk some delays then go for it. Me, I prefer to use BA.

good review but needs a bit more info, I too flew with this airline last year with Travel City Direct and we had no problems at all, found them to be just as good as other tour company's.
