We unfortunately had a mixed stay at this hotel in September 06.
Arrival:
The shuttle service is easy to use. Use one of the many interactive free telephones in Calgary airport to contact the hotel and they will send a driver and minivan to collect you. This arrived within 15 minutes and is about a 15 minute drive from the airport. We used the shuttle service to return to the airport the next day which we found to be reliable and efficient - you can book a timeslot to return back to the airport at reception.
Check in was quick and easy and we were offered a late check out at no extra cost (to 1pm) at no extra cost which I was pleased with. However there was no assistance offered with baggage we were given a ground floor room at the end of a long corridor.
Rooms
After struggling down the corridors with our bag we found that the room had not been cleaned and had obviously been used for some serious partying!! When we complained we were moved to a 2nd floor room but not given any real apology. This room was reasonably quiet and very large - there was a queen bed and a large sofa and writing desk as well as tv. I suffer from asthma and found that the dust affected me in this room so felt that the cleaning could be better - however I acknowledge that I am very sensitive to dust and nothing was dirty as such just probably in need of a thorough hoover.
The bathrooms are very basic - with bath/shower, sink and toilet and limited complimentary toiletries. However you are given a generous amount of towels. There is a coffee maker in the room and ice machines on every floor - however the one on our floor didn't work.
Breakfast: Breakfast at the hotel was about $10 but there is a Perkins Bakery just a few doors down which does a full breakfast (3 eggs, bacon, hash browns) with pancakes for about $6 which we really enjoyed.
Nearby is a large shopping mall - however this is at least 5 blocks away so around a 20 minute walk and since most people seem to drive everywhere the pedestrian crossings aren't brilliant. The hotel is close to a large and busy dual carriageway but we weren't particularly disturbed by the noise.
Overall: This hotel is situated with many other airport hotels so there is plenty of choice. The hotel describes its rooms as 'luxurious guestrooms' - and whilst the rooms are very spacious I personally would not describe them as luxurious. We paid CAN$99 for the room for the night and felt this was a reasonable price. There is lots of competition in the area so get the best deal you can - other hotels offer extras such as swimming pools/ whirlpools. The best thing about this hotel is the size of the rooms, free late checkout and free airport shuttle.
