the airport and 25 minutes to Nathon Pier. 130 modest rooms that are well equipped with modern conveniences. The Bungalows at the Fair House Beach Resort are set in rows along the beach front with the Grand Deluxe Bungalow right on the beach in the first row. Advantages: Great Views, Romantic hideaway, Friendly Staff Disadvantages: Distance from main town
...planned room, with support for the roof but only that allowing, great unobstructed panoramic views across the bay.
The Rocky Resort is quite a about ten miles away from the busiest place on Samui, Chaweng, being situated in Hua Thanon. But by the open air buses it took about twenty minutes, and these were less than £2.
Through the hotel we were able to hire a jeep, which was promptly delivered at a cost of £10 per day. This allowed us to explore the beautiful island at our leisure, fuelling at the roadside (very few large garages) and drive to the bigger towns and more tourist orientated beaches in Lamai and Chaweng, which was pleasant enough. The resort itself has its own beach and massages could be had on the beach, booked through the hotel, though we didn't choose to, so I'm unsure about the pricing.

Advantages: Location and price Disadvantages: None
...The Chaba Cabana is located at the northern end of Chaweng Beach, an area that for me was ideal. You are far away enough from the centre of Chaweng that you can enjoy peaceful afternoons relaxing on uncrowded parts of the beach, then in the evening you are only 35-40 minutes walk or a 5-10 minute taxi to the centre for all your bars and restaurants.
The rooms, although nothing spectaculor were of a good standard, very clean and spacious.
Breakfast is normaly included with hotels in Chaweng and the Chaba Cabana had a fantastic buffet spread in an airy beachfront dining room.
The service was impecable which is what you come to expect in Thailand and the check-in and check-out were very casual and unhurried.
I also liked this hotel because some of the other Chaweng hotels are split between the main road running through the resort...

Advantages: A pleasant and relaxing location. Disadvantages: Many hours flying from the UK.
...As you disembark at KoSamui airport you just know that this is going to be a wonderful holiday. Palm trees, no red tape and friendly staff all serve to reinforce that opinion. We were booked in at the Chaweng Blue Lagoon and after 24 hours of traveling since leaving home, we were really keen to get checked in. The manager met us and put us in a taxi before dropping the bombshell that the hotel was overbooked and we would have to spend the first night in another hotel. She assured us that it would be of similar class but I was immediately hostile to the idea. When we arrived at the Mercure Resort I expressed my gross dissatisfaction with the situation in polite but unmistakable terms – it was not on the beach and was a good ten minutes walk from the resort down a dark and busy road. Comforted slightly by the offer of a free...
