Advantages: Grand comfort, good location, great price. Disadvantages: No airport shuttle bus.
We stayed in the Fairmont Palliser, Calgary last weekend after a week long Ski holiday to the Rocky, Purcell and Kootenay mountains. (6 mountains in 8 days - just to make any skiers reading jealous!!)
It was a great place for some luxury after skiing all week! We didn't really use too many of the facilities as we only stayed one night but the public areas of the hotel are exceptionally grand but not at all stuffy. This is Calgary, after all! One thing I would say is that the prices advertised on Ciao for a stay here are a ripoff. We paid C$130 (~£75) for a queen room on a Saturday night.
Our room was very clean and comfortable. Not particularly large but had enough room for us and our gear. The bathroom was a little past its prime, with paint peeling a little from the ceiling but the towels were very clean and the provided toiletries ...
Advantages: Every facility imaginable provided Disadvantages: Service needs improving
I visited Dubai for the first time last year and was very impressed as soon as I had hit the airport. A friend picked me up and took me to a hotel where we were to stay for a night and day, before leaving for Abu Dhabi.
I didn't have any idea which hotel we were about to stay in. As I was gazing at the towers and the numerous buildings surrounding it, I didn't notice the Fairmont Hotel fast approaching.
The building is beautiful. It matches the style of the surrounding structures yet still seems different. Each top corner of the building has a pyramid shape on top, looking like watch towers. We pulled up in front of the lobby area and entered the reception leaving our baggage with the concierge ...
Advantages: Shopping, Cleanliness, Nice People Disadvantages: HEAT!!!
Uniquely Singapore!! This is this city's catch phrase. It can be seen on signs as soon as you walk off the plane the moment when you do depart and they wish you a found farewell as the plane departs this fine city.
I am not sure what I thought I would expect from Singapore. However, whatever it was did not even compare to what I found in this spectacular city!
Upon arriving at the Changi airport, one becomes completely in awe of the airport which supports it's own stopover hotel, free movie theatre and spa! This is not to mention the vast amounts of shops and restaurants.
~Immigration~
On departing the plane, you make your way through the beautiful corridors filled with live plants and flowers of spectacular beauty, to the immigration lines. As the airline had not handed out immigration cards before arrival in Singapore ...
