First Impressions
Our stay at the Fairmont Tremblant was truly memorable. On our arrival late at night, we were greeted by friendly and courteous staff. Check in was quick and simple. The lobby area was especially welcoming with a beautiful open fire that become a favourite place to relax around after a day spent on the slopes. The hotel was kept very clean which must be a hard job considering all the messy skiers traipsing through the hotel at all hours.
Our RoomThe whole holiday was a little bit of a luxurious treat for ourselves before settling down and starting a family. So on booking we opted for a deluxe room, we were under the impression only those with a deluxe room got a bath. This turned out to be false as even the basic rooms had a bath! We were so impressed with the room we didn't mind. Our room could actually sleep 6 people, it had 2 double beds and a huge sofa bed. The room was enormous, about the size of my first flat! It was furnished in a very nice simple style, the heaters were easy to use and we had a drying closet for all the ski gear. We visited one of our friends room and they had opted for a basic package. Still very nice and comfortable, all the same facilities, the room was smaller and they didn't have a 2nd spare bed or a sofa, they just had a chair. If we visited again, we would use the basic rooms and save some cash. We had tea and coffee making facilities with a kettle and peculator, we had more than enough for each day and these were replenished regularly. The bathroom was lovely, we had a decent sized bath, which I find is rare in hotel's and a very powerful shower which really helped soothe the aching limbs. Lots of lovely toiletries and these were replenished everyday. The room had a hairdryer and you could even borrow extras like straightners and foot spas from reception.
Pool and SpaWe loved the pool and spa area and found it was very relaxing after a day of heavy exercise on the mountain. There was a swimming pool which was luke warm, a relaxation pool which was warm, a really nice hot tub which was hot and a cold plunge pool ( I didn't use that one!). These were all outside and it was a lovely feeling to be cosy and relaxed in the water while snow falls on your head. Inside there was a sauna and steam room, an internal pool and a gym. All these areas were kept spotlessly clean and a constant lifeguard was on duty. To our surprise you could even order drinks from the pool and as a group we enjoyed the odd cocktail while swimming and relaxing.
LocationWe were a party of 8 friends and couples with a truly mixed skiing ability. I was a complete novice although improved considerably by the end of the week. One of our party is a qualified instructor so that helped with our improvement all round. One of the best things about the Fairmont Hotel is it's position within the resort. It truly was a ski in and out hotel. You left the boot room and could ski straight to the lift and at the end of the day the slope ended at the back entrance of the hotel.
I believe this really helped improve my skiing as I could devote all my time to skiing and not spend it walking to the slopes or getting worn out carrying equipment before the day had even started. You were also in a really good position in the ski village. within walking distance of all the bars and restaurants and the little supermarket. We were at the very top of the pedestrain village and that meant we had a beautiful view of the whole area. We could see the snow covered lake from our room which is used for watersports in the summer and this I imagine would look equally as attractive in the summer.
Food and drink
We only ate in the hotel restaurant on one occasion as we did consider it to be quite expensive but we treated ourselves on the last night of our holiday and had the all you can eat seafood buffet and it was amazing. It was the first and only time I have had lobster and it was really enjoyable. Another highlight of the meal was having scallops cooked to order in vodka and then flamed in front of me. A truly memorable dining experience. We had some very nice meals in the actual village as well, if you decide to visit Tremblant, I recommend Casey's bar and Grill. Le shack which we used for breakfast for an all you can eat cooked buffet which was much appreciated before a day on the slopes.
In conclusion
I would recommend this hotel to anyone who enjoys winter sports as the position to the slopes is excellent. It is also very close to all the other bars and restaurants and the other attractions in the village. The hotel is not a cheap option by any standards and if you are looking for a bargain break then there are many other hotel's in Tremblant. But saying this although not cheap I felt the hotel offered excellent value for money and we certainly made the most off the facilities on offer.
