Me and my university friends were all planning a big holiday together over Easter, of course two of us were the only ones to actually get the money together, and we went for a late deal that took us to Faliraki, Rhodes. Loads of our friends had been there during the very busy summer months and described it as the most amazing place that they had never wanted to leave. We ahd to go. After a comfortable journey that did not take too long, we arrived at our hotel 'The Venezia' at about five in the morning, delighted to find a twenty four hour bar! In the morning, we had a meeting with the reps who told us of all the excursions that were possible. It was clear from the beggining that this was a place that served as a perfect base if you wanted to visit various sights, Islands etc.Unfortunately, myself and my friend were strapped for cash, and we only got to go on one which was a trip to a village absolutely in the middle of nowhere, for easter day, where there was greek dancing, and a big meal with free wine put on for us. It was a truly fantastic day. We had hoped to visit lindos also, which was apparently fantastic, the transport being donkeys!but again, money prevented us.We did visit, however, Rhodes old town, which costs about four pounds in a taxi from Faliraki. We spent an entire afternoon here, and were astounded by it's beauty. We visited the watchtower which we could see the whole of the town from the top of, and lapped up the relaxed lighthearted atmosphere, the people were extremely friendly and I even ended up being taught how to greek dance on the street by a shop owner! The whole town is divided from the new town by a grat stone wall, and the stone surroundings and buildings really astounded us. Faliraki itself is not so much as beautiful, although some of the scenery, hills etc.is, but a place to shop, and most of all, a place to party. We went at easter which was the quiet season, but managed to be out every night, becoming friends with all the barstaff everywhere, who were extremely friendly, and gave us many free drinks! There are two main streets where you go out, bar street and club street, considering most of the clubs were shut as it was the quiet season, we spent most of the time on bar street, where the bars stayed open till around four anyway. The noise of the street is amazing, and not a oplace for someone looking for a quiet night out!It is apparently completely heaving in the summer, particularly August, and I think it may be a little too much as apparently, you cannot even move on the streets, but when we went, May was perfect, as I expect june and july to be great aswell.

I went to Faliraki in 1990, my first ever 'mates holiday' and had a great time. I then returned around the same time as yourself, and it had hardly changed at all. It was v.hot, but downsides were that ALL bars were EXACTLY the same, same music, same drinks and it is becoming expensive. Also when the bars close at 12 midnight, you feel robbed of a night out. The best part of the busy nights is the atmosphere. Just looking up the slope in bar street from Jamaica bar, and you can see a sea of people all enjoying themselves.
