Advantages great ride on the big green bus, lots of options
Disadvantages hard to mix with people
Feejee experience is part of a tour group that also owns OzExperience and KiwiExperience (in Australia and New Zealand). FeejeeExperience operates in Fiji.
The company is aimed at travellers with no specific age group in mind and as such you get a wide age range on the tours. All the buses are huge and green - you can't miss them!!The company isn't strictly a tour company as such. What Feejee Experience is is a hop-on hop-off bus with different routes - there are only 2 in Fiji though. You buy your ticket either before you go or when you're there and after it's been activated on the first you you have a limit in which to use it - this is either 6 months or a year, I can't remember.
The passes all include some activties although not many - the passes are pretty cheap. I think the fiji pass we bought which toured the main island was called the Hula Loop and was about £100. This included the activites and the transport, it also ensures you have a bed for the night although the cost of the accommodation isn't included. What they do with accommodation is have a select number of hostels that they use and you chose where you want to stay and they ring ahead and book it for you and you just pay when you get there. The bus passes have a great deal of flexibility as you can choose your accommodation and also the amount of time you spend in each place. As the tours are hop-on hop-off then if you wish to spend longer in a particular place then you can do, you just have to arrange and book your place on the next bus, in Fiji these were typically every other day. The Fiji pass doesn't really need any extra days in places unless you want to learn to Scuba Dive.
The included activities are all simple ones and aren't compulsory. They are ones that you may no get the chance to do if you wre just touring on your own, for example in Fiji we visited a local village and a local school - two really memorable experiences. The tours guides are generally pretty good. The negatives with the tours being hop-on hop-off is that you don't tend to form good freidnships with the group as people are always coming and going. So it may not be ideal for travellers who are on their own.
That said I know that this Experience out of the group of 3 is very differnet to the other two, with the others, particularly KiwiExperience having the reputation of being a party bus and full of 18 year olds getting drunk. All in all this is a great way to get off the tourist track and see some more of Fiji apart from the idilyic islands.
