...We found the Plaza Hostal, c/Fontanella, in the Rough Guide.It's such value for money and in such a great location, round the corner from the Place de Catalunya, we've stayed there 4 times and reccommended it to innumerable friends. Last year it was approx.£32 per en-suite room. Easy access to the Ramblas and the old town.The bus from the airport stops in the Place de Catalunya and from there I reckon it's about 200 yards walk to the hotel.You can book via e-mail, which is a great help.The owners are south american and speak a little english.... ...to make a walking tour in the Barri Gotic, it's close to "Plaza Urquinaona", and at 10 minutes walking of "Plaza Catalunya" there is a stop of the "Bus Turistic" if you are using this service. And the following Buses 17, 19, 40 and 45, remember to ask for the correct stop to the driver. Any other tips? Also you can ask anyone, be sure that the other person speaks English or you will need at least 15 minutes in order to make you understand, but in order to help you, try to remember this questions: - ¿Cómo puedo llegar al Palau de la Música? (How I can get to Palau de la Musica). - ¿Puede hablarme más lento? (Can you speak to me slower?) - ¿Puede señalarme el camino? (Can you indicate me the road?) Well, we are there, now what? ...way to see the city and the main sights is to hop on the Tourist Bus. The cost of the Bus tickets Adults 20euros approx, Children and Senior Citizens 13euros approx which I think is very good value . There are many venues where live music and theatre are being performed. Every June there is the Sonar Music Festival. Thereis a lot of sport and very good facilities for a variety of sport. Barcelona hosted the olympics in 1992. It is also very well known for its football team FC BARCELONA.. The Open Seat Godo ATP Tour International Series Gold tennis tournament which is held every year at he Reial Club de Tenis Barcelona. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Barcelona where a rented an apartment in the old part of the city.... Read review
