Advantages: Cheap tickets and with easy access to venues Disadvantages: Some events/programmes did not suit my availability
...NUMEROUS FESTIVALS are being held around the world annually. Sundance (US) in the early part of the year; Cannes (Paris) in May; the British Short Film (London); Toronto International (Canada) in September; Cinemagic and the Belfast Festival in Northern Ireland to mention a few from more than 2000 festivals celebrated worldwide.
When I was in the Philippines, I always take the opportunity of attending the locally-organised film-fests showcasing films from from the UK, US, Germany, Spain, Japan and Australia. In most several occasions, these events are free to the public.
For being here in Northern Ireland, the enthusiasm to watch these film festivals is still there. This is the reason why I took extra effort to attend some of the major programmes of the 44th Belfast Festival at Queen's (University) held between 19 Oct and 04 Nov 2006...

Advantages: cultural history, people, WOMAD festival Disadvantages: small town, campus location
...place during WOMAD festival, every year in May (very soon! : )
The East part of the city is actually the Old part so I will not comment more on that!
To the North of PASEO CANOVAS one goes to the road to the University Campus. There is only one campus in Caceres and it is placed quite far from the city. The University of Caceres is an average one, the faculty of Humanities and Laws are not well considered in the rest of the country indeed (myself being an example of the level of the uni : ). However, Technology and Architecture are well considered, so I guess there is somehow a kind of balance…
In the North part of Caceres there is also a huge and wide Park...

Advantages: Small is good for this festival Disadvantages: What apart from a hangover??
...at pretty much the same time, 2 weeks including the end of September into the beginning of October.

At the end of the day a Volkfest is I guess a peoples festival with fairground type rides with the added bonus of (as it would appear at most German festivals) beer tents. So in an English way it is a beer festival!
I was told originally that this was the second biggest beer festival in the world although other figures show this may not be the case. Either way it’s big, with millions of visitors each year. Each year there are around 10 tents each with there own atmosphere, style and clientele. To give you an idea we spent most of our time in the Grandl tent which I would describe as the most likely associated with say Munich – big...
