Advantages: Lots to see and do; great party atmosphere Disadvantages: May be a few drunken idiots around
This is held every year in May and is a spectacular event.
North Shields is situated at the mouth of the River Tyne to the East of Newcastle. It is a fishing port, with much character. A lot of regeneration is going on in the area.
The Fish Quay Festival has been re-named WOW in recent years, which stands for Window on the World. It is mainly a music festival, featuring local up and coming bands and usually a handful of more widely known bands. Advantages: great atmosphere. Disadvantages: So many festivals, so little time!
all sorts of interesting people.

There is also a big area by the arena where there are a lot more food & drink joints and also a load of shops selling various T-shirts, Hats and the like. You can also buy official Reading Festival merchandise here as well. Another tip although the guys selling T-shirts may be cheaper the quality of the shirts is awful, and will probably only last one washing, so buy any T-shirts from a proper stall.
Each field will also have a tap, so you can brush your teeth and get water to wash your face ...
