Hôtel Restaurant La Flambée -dine in style but bedrooms plain.

Advantages: Beautiful dining room
Disadvantages: Bedrooms adequate but not elegant.

We stayed at the Hôtel Restaurant La Flambée in Bergerac in November 2008 for two nights and enjoyed breakfast and dinner. What follows is an honest account as possible about the hotel as I can provide. Hopefully this may help if you are planning to visit this part of the world. We flew to Bordeaux but the most convenient airport for the hotel is actually in Bergerac as the hotel lies about 2 miles outside the town. Incase you are not familiar with this part of the world these places are in the main wine growing areas, and are in South West France. Flying time from the UK is about an hour and a half if you are flying from the London areas. Easyjet will take you to Bordeaux from Luton, likewise British Airways will fly you from Gatwick, and Ryanair will fly you from Stansted to Bergerac. This area is great as it is possible to use as ...

Wulise in Looe

Advantages: Full of history, with plenty of places to visit.
Disadvantages: Very crowded during the summer months.

fleet land their catch on the key at the market and the auctions that then take place many in the early morning, but the smell can be a little over-powering. At Looe you are never too far from the beautiful Cornish beaches with is water sports, diving, fishing, hostelries, restaurants, boat trips, walks through the countryside and along with one of the best scenic plus most beautiful coastlines anywhere in the British isle (well that is my personal opinion anyway). In medieval times there were two towns on opposite banks of the River Looe. East Looe now as then included the fishing harbour, the main shopping centre and the sandiest beach. West Looe is much quieter, but also has small quaint shops, restaurants and hotels and leads to Hannafore with its spacious promenades and fine views of Looe Island, an excellent place to go diving, nut ...

Review of Looe (England)

Pretty Looe

Advantages: A pretty part of Cornwall
Disadvantages: Steep paths a bit hard on the legs

Looe is situated in south-east Cornwall and is built on the estuary of two rivers. East Looe and West Looe are joined across the estuary by a broad seven arched bridge. The labyrinth of narrow streets rise steeply from the river up the sides of the valley so if your hotel is at the top be prepared to get some exercise, whether you want it or not! Looe used to be a pilchard fishing community but the arrival of the railway in 1859 brought the first summer visitors and tourism has been strong in the town ever since. The quayside is still lined with fishing boats and you can go on a shark fishing expedition if you’re feeling brave. For anglers who prefer to keep their feet on dry land there is a circular area at the end of Banjo Pier, which is ideal for fishing. There are the usual gift shops you would associate with any sea ...
