The Finas is run by an English lady and the welcome you receive there is excellent. The apartments are quite basic but very clean. Theye had refurbished some when we were there (August 2005) and should have the rest complete by 2006. The apartments consist of 2 rooms a bathroom with bath and shower and beroom come kitchen with a two ring stove, sink and fridge. Air conditioning is extra approx 30 euros per week. Although the apartments are classed as self catering I wouldn't like to have made anything more than tea and toast in that kitchen. The loctaion of the apartments is out of the main town but only a short walk away although the return journey is up a steep hill. Pefkos is a quiet town with not much happening a few lively bars but mostly resteraunts, although barring a couple they all have the same menu. The beaches were disappinting, there is a smll beach near Finas apartments but apart from 20 or so loungers there are no facilities and it is an incerdibly narrow and short beach, we were 17 and not far off filled it! There are other beaches towards the centre of town but ar quite a walk. Pefkos is a great place to stay to explore Rhodes, and I would recommend the trip to Prasanisi where the Med and Agean seas meet. It is only an hour to Rhodes Town on the public transportbuses, which are cheap, clean and air conditioned. Alternatively a taxi would be approx 50 - 60 euros and a 30 - 40 minute drive, but you do see more of the island on the bus. The trip to Turkey that is run is also worth while but we found the prices at the local travel agent in Pefkos much cheaper than the prices the Reps in the hotel are charging and the travel agent is run by English people who will are also your guides and know much more about the history and traditions of Rhodes as they have lived there for years.
All in all we had a great time at Finas, the staff are really friendly, the food is good and much cheaper than the resaurants in town. The pool can become quite crowded in the day but that's only to be expected.
A tribute to how great the staff were is the "Christmas Party" they held for our group. We were a group of 17 family memebers and as we would not be together for Christmas decided to have Christmas Dinner in Rhodes. The staff at the Finas organised us a traditional Greek Christmas Dinner with 8 different starters, a main course and any desert you could think of. We took crackers and decorations with us and the staff spent the day decorating the pool area and preparing for our meal. The service was outstanding with 2 waiters dedicated to our table and that was the icing on the cake of a great holiday. We can't praise the staff at the Finas enough although some of the rooms could do with a little TLC.
To summarise, if you want a place to rest your head afetr you've been out exploring the island all day then the Finas is for you. If you like a "pool only and few drinks at night" holiday then the Finas is for you. If you like a little luxury, or a livlier holiday with everything on your doorstep than Finas nor Pefkos is for you.

Advantages: friendly, good facilities, good location, nice pool Disadvantages: accommodation fairly basic, couldn't move parasols over the sun loungers
