Late night buses run on selected routes on Friday night/Saturday morning and Saturday night/Sunday morning hourly from 0015 till 0315 with a flat fare of £2.20. There is also a service on Hognany (New Years Eve) with special timetables.
There are usually limited services on Christmas Day and New Years Day although this depends on funding from the City Council.
A new service that was recently launched was "gig 'n' go" When there is a concert or show at the AECC buses will pick you up and drop you in city centre (fare payable)
The majority of the buses are low floor with access for buggies or wheelchairs and luggage racks for shopping, luggage etc.
The reliability of First Aberdeens services can leave a lot to be desired. Especially in the evening peak period. It is sometimes not unusual to wait 30 mins+ for a bus timetabled to run every 10 minutes!
This is not the drivers fault or entirley the bus companys fault as no two days are ever the same. Also when the schools are on holiday everything runs much smoother. The bulk of the problem must lie with the various administrattions that have run Aberdeen City Council over the last 30 years.
Aberdeen was/is the oil capital of Europe and has grown massively since the black gold was found. However that road infrastructure hasn't and now that bigger better roads are desperatly required there is a severe lack of suitable and available ground.
I would recomend you use First Aberdeen if only to help reduce congestion within the city. There are two excellent Park & Ride services. One in the North of city at Bridge of Don (12 mins by bus to centre) & Kingwells to West (22 mins to centre) free car parking and only £2 return per adult (under 16 free)
The buses generally are modern, clean, warm & reliable. The drivers are generally friendly and helpful. The two biggest let downs are reliability (during peak hours) and single journey prices
I am not the type of person who must own every single games console, and must have it the very minute it is released. However I will admit that I do enjoy playing an odd game on the Nintendo DS or the Playstation! I used to shop at other shops, that was until late last year when I ventured into Game and liked what I saw!
Each Game store will be slightly different, so the one I am describing is the one on Union Street, Aberdeen. When you first walk through the doors, which are not as wide as they could possibly be, you will see the walls are filled with games of all kinds in their cases. Above each set of shelves there is a little coloured plaque, which tells you which console you can play those specific games on. There are a lot of various console games available: Playstation 2/3, X Boxes, Nintendo DS, PSP, Wii, PC. I tend to shop in ...
Advantages: The fuel part of the service was superb, with a smiling greeting Disadvantages: The food section wasbeing cleaned and it was as though we were interupting them
As I travel a lot from Aberdeen to the midlands of England. Kinross is my first port of call, usually during the daytime. On Tuesday 23rd September I decided to travel overnight and still use the same places, on calling for fuel at 1.54 am I was met by a cheery good morning by a young man sweeping the forecourt, filled up then decided to have a coffee. that was my big mistake, 2 coffees one black just 1/2 a cup and topped up with water the other normal but the price was not....£3.58 for 2 coffees. The staff were not all that pleasent as to having to serve a customer at 2am, there is no wonder that the place was empty ...
Advantages: Excellent Location, Excellent Value for Money Disadvantages: Slightly Noisey
I often stay in travelodges whenever i go on a city break. I stayed here with my partner a few months back as it was in a very central location(just 2 mins walk from the train station and it is round the corner from Union Street(the main shopping street in Aberdeen). The room cost £26 which was very good vaue for money and we stayed for two nights. The room we got was on the first floor which wasn't so great as we stayed over the weekend so there was a lot of noise from cars speeding up and down Union Street and there were lots of seagulls causing so much noise. This of course meant that it was very tricky to sleep and relax. I stayed here on a previous occasion with a close friend of mine and our room was on the top floor and that was really great as we could sleep pretty well.
The room was the usual layout with a TV ...
