I am an adventurous "Granny" constantly being told by my daughters to "act my age" I love to travel to far flung places where we always have adventures. I also design files for my plotter cutter whenever I have spare time.

UPDATE 02/12/2001 Well I have recieved a reply from First Choice after 3 attempts by me to get them to reply.
They didnt even do me the courtesy of replying to all 26 of my complaints, they answered 2 in a very brief manner which was patronising, accused me of not knowing what I had booked ( never mind the fact that we have visited over 60 countries all over the world, some of which most people have never even heard of.)
My reply to them copied to ABTA demanded that they respond in full, this time without insulting my intelligence.
ABTA are now on the case and they have been given yet another 28 days to respond in full to the complaint. I wont hold my breath though. I will update again when something more worthy of reading has been recieved. END OF UPDATE
I have travelled with First Choice for the First and Last time this year. We travelled to Venezuela and had a tour of the "Lost World". Firstly their brochure was totally inacurate we booked an Allaego hotel as we know the standards of this group. The hotel wasnt Allegro and according to Allegro never has been. They just trained the Staff. Secondly First Choice are very ecconomical with the truth. They told us the tour had been extended by a day due to flight changes, when we got there we were told that the tour hadnt changed since it fifst started to run. We foud evidence of this written by First choice travellers throughout 2000 and 2001 in the guest book at one of the "camps" we stayed at. We bought a flight upgrade, (Air 2000, owned by First Choice) anyone thinking of doing this dont bother the cabin crew are rude, everything is too much trouble, the food is the same as in economy inedible is the polite way to describe it. The seats are smaller than regular airlines ecconomy seats and are very cramped. We flew to Margarita Island for the final 3 weeks of our holiday supposedly staying at the Laguna Mar. (We slept ther a few times) and spent a fortune staying away from the hotel, food was bland and not well cooked. The Restaurant was full of starlings which the hotel admitted where a nuisance - they eat the food before you get to it. The staff didnt even bother to stop them. The hotel was dirty, the pools were filthy even the jaccuzi's had an inch of scum floating on the top. The beach was full of rotting seaweed which they gave up trying to clear as there was too much of it. First Choice were no use at all. We asked to move to another hotel but were told that ours was the best on the island. The hotel dictated to them what was the policy and they just agreed. They even changed the closing times of the bars from 01.00 to 11.30. When we complained we were told by the rep that we didnt have a leg to stand on as they had not advertised the times in the brochure. I had however printed off the closing times from the hotels website before we travelled. First choice didnt like this. We were given a bottle of cheap red wine to appologise. There is a lot more but I have a case against this company Via ABTA and ATOL pending so dont want to write too much. just DONT TAKE FIRST CHOICES WORD FOR ANYTHING THEY APPEAR NOT TO KNOW THE TRUTH.

I had similar experiances with first choice, luckily I had photos and recorded evidence of a crap holiday. eventually got 20% of my holiday cost back, wow that put everything right! NOT.

i'm having a lot of trouble with first choice too - i cant believe they are still in business with the amount of lies they tell etc - did you ever get your problems sorted? Lisa

i already find their shop display tacky so i suppose it is not my first choice either.
