Advantages: Buses are more frequent than they used to be and new routes have been introduced. Disadvantages: They often break down and aren't waterproof in the rain!

As a general rule, the buses are dirty and fares have gone up in recent years. However, reliability has increased somewhat, and the frequency of some buses have been increased.
Another point to consider is that Cornwall seems to be the 'bus graveyard' of England, most service buses are over 20 years old, this means breakdowns are frequent- not good if you are travelling to Lands End on a 2-hourly bus, or in my case, late for an A-Level exam, as my bus broke down on the A30!
On balance, First serves rural communities well and tries to provide a good service with limited resources. Buses are also a good option for tourists, I would not recommend driving cars through the narrow streets of Mousehole/Marazion/St Ives etc during the summer!

Booking was relatively easy although the office is shared with FirstDevon and Cornwall Bus Company so it can get very busy at times. The staff are friendly and couldn?t do enough to help but I have found its best to know the exact bus you intend to catch. For example I often go to London via the 501 but they added a 500 service also and this was confusing when trying to deal with a transfer to Luton airport.
The staff can also be very helpful when trying to go abroad. A few years ago I had to get to Slovenia for a week long event. The year before I had been taken seriously ill on the plane and had to be treated for DVT. I was very nervous about flying again and saw that National Express operated a Europe service. The staff were very ...

) and really had I known the Victoria Line was closed before getting on the Metropolitan line I would have used this one. This line was affected by the 2005 terrorist attack. The bomb went off between Kings Cross and Russell Square, I must admit that this does scare me about the tubes. I feel quite claustrophobic and 'stuck' this aside however it is still probably one of the safest ways to travel. Having been on a few 'FirstDevon and Cornwall' buses tube seems like the safest option. We had to get on this train and travel Westbound from Kings Cross and Kensington South where we got on the District line (Eastbound). This whole East and West bound malarkey really confused me as we had to back and forwards to get on the right line.
THE 'DISTRICT' LINE
The District line (green) we had to get on the district line from South Kensington to ...

Advantages: lots to see and do Disadvantages: lots of walking - gotta be fit!
Tintagel, what a beautiful place! If you are ever down in Cornwall it is well worth a visit. It's on the north coast on the B3263 fairly close to Devon, if we are travelling further into Cornwall we always make a point of breaking the journey at Tintagel.
Firstly it boasts a reasonable priced, large carpark. Lots of little gift shops, most of which stock decent items like Celtic Jewelery, Crystals, new age items and not your usual seaside 'tat'. Dragon's Breath is my particular favourite - very new age.
Tintagel Castle is worth a visit - with a jeep available to take you down to it - or more importantly up up from it! A word of warning, however, the castle has amny steps of varying steepness, size and shape and even the most sure footed find it difficult at times. It is not recommended for the elderly or anyone not too hot ...
