Kung Fu Panda

Advantages: A fabulous animated film for all ages
Disadvantages: None

Kung Fu Panda is an American animated comedy film which was first released in 2008. It was directed by John Stevenson and Mark Osborne and runs for 92 minutes. It features the voices of many famous actors and actresses and is set in ancient China. ~The Plot~ I won't give too much away about the plot as it spoils it for those reviewers who have not yet had the pleasure of seeing the movie. The film centres around Po - an overweight, unfit panda who works in the noodle business with his father but dreams of better things. He aspires to be a kung-fu expert but doesn't stand a chance in hell of ever becoming that. A chance encounter sees Po chosen as the dragon warrior and the movie follows him being trained by kung-fu expert Master Shifu in order to defeat the much feared Tai Lung (a snow leapord) who is descending on the town in ...

Oscar Wilde's obsession with books

Advantages: Full of fascinating information about Wilde's life and love of books
Disadvantages: None really, except maybe best enjoyed by those with some prior knowledge of Wilde

The controversial Victorian playwright and poet Oscar Wilde, so the introduction to this book tells us, ?devoured and luxuriated in books?. He had a lifelong thirst for reading, so it?s not surprising to find that his house in Chelsea was packed with them. Not only was he an avid collector, but he was also an accomplished speed reader with a remarkable ? and to some extent photographic ? memory which helped him to absorb and recall instantly vast amounts of prose and verse. As a reviewer for the Pall Mall Gazette, he could master a book's content, plot or argument in minutes. (If only ciao had been around in those days as well). Maybe it is only fair to get the one major chink in his armour out of the way quickly. Once, when he was preparing a lecture on the poet Chatterton, most of his notes were made up of entire pages and paragraphs ...

Review of Oscar's Books - Thomas Wright

First class...no class!

Advantages: The pool was big
Disadvantages: Filthy dirty, dreadful staff

With eldest son working in Turkey for the summer, we decided it was time for mum to go visit and spoil his fun. So, a quick surf around the various travel agents found us a great deal, leaving at the time we wanted, going to the resort we wanted, and promising a 4 star hotel for around £200 each b and b, including airport taxes and transfer fees. So... having landed in Bodrum, paid our fees to get into the country, we had about an hour journey (100km) to Altinkum and our first sighting of The First Class Hotel. It is actually situated about 10 minutes from the main promenade, and in the area where most of the hotels are situated, with shops and bars close by. Up the steps and into the lobby which was a large area with cream suede sofas (what possessed them?). A quick look around revealed a large starcase with a dirty worn out ...
