FISHERMAN'S FRIEND.

Advantages: Beautiful colour. Good bitter from a good brewery.
Disadvantages: Only available for a limited time each year.

subtle spiciness that leave your mouth feeling warm. The smoothness of the beer is also pleasant on the palate. Fisherman leaves you feeling warm, cosy and definitely wanting to get straight to the bar for another pint! That?s perhaps the only trouble; it is perhaps a little TOO easy to drink. Adnams Fisherman is unfortunately only available from October until the end of February. This is a real pity because I would be happy to drink it at any time of year; although essentially marketed as a winter brew it is refreshing enough to warrant a regular slot. Ours cost us £2.00 for a pint; the standard price for one of the Guest Ales at The Market Hotel. I consider this to be a fair price for a good and tasty beer ~ of course, I?d love to pay less, but this isn?t going to happen and I have paid the same price for distinctly average beers in ...

Haunted??

Advantages: Great fun to read
Disadvantages: NONE

The Horrid Henry collection of stories is currently the subject of 17 books written for children aged between 6 and 11. The author of these books is Francesca Simon and the subject for the stories, a boy called Henry. As you can probably guess from the title of the collection Henry is a horrid child whereas his brother Peter is perfect. Henry's mum and dad sincerely wish that Henry was like Peter but we don't because then there wouldn't be any fantastic antics from Simon to right her books about. Horrid Henry's Haunted House is book number 6 and was published in 1998. The book contains four stories entitled, Horrid Henry and the Comfy Black Chair, Horrid Henry's Haunted House, Horrid Henry's School Fair and Horrid Henry Minds his Manners. Each story is roughly 20 pages in length and so is more than manageable for children ...

Review of Horrid Henry's Haunted House - Francesca Simon

Movies For Halloween - The Haunting

Advantages: Complex, intelligent, layered, endlessly rewarding...
Disadvantages: Jan de Bont saw it one time. No good came of that.

Robert Wise's 1963 The Haunting is, I'll go ahead and announce right here and now, one of my favourite films of all time. Complex, intelligent, layered, beautifully shot, wittily written - whatever one's criteria for judging the merits of these things, The Haunting meets it, shortly before scaring the very pores out the skin... The tale, based on Shirley Jackson's The Haunting Of Hill House, concerns an experiment conducted in the house in question, a place "born bad", by a scientist interested in determining the legitimacy or otherwise of the myriad of legends concerning supernatural activity therein. He enlists a handful of volunteers to assist him, principle amongst them being Julie Harris' Eleanor Lance, a woman still riddled with guilt following the recent death of her invalid mother. Throughout the course of the experiment ...
