The Flaming Dragon Chinese restaurant is located in The Corner House in the centre of Nottingham.
I work part time in local Co-operative store in Radcliffe on Trent, near Nottingham.
Faced with going out with about 10 of my Female Collegues I thought how will I be able to satisfy all those women in one night, after all I am high side of 56.
Give them all they can eat was the answer, so the Flaming Dragon was the obvious choice.
It is a eat all you can deal of Chinese food.
Prices are simple Lunchtime Adults £5.50, and Evenings it is £12.50 Children under 10 are £3 and £4 for same.
You queue when busy to be allocated a table, best reserve for evenings as it is getting very popular.
The decor is very RED a lucky colour for the Chinese.
We were shown to a long table set out for 12.
I would like to comment at this stage about the Staff. They seem to be young Chinese with a superb work ethic. They are always busy. Dirty empty plates are not left long on a table.
After showing us to our table , drink orders were taken, a very important part of a Co-Op's Girls night out.
Then it is off for starters. I must say the selection is most impressive. the list below is from their menu.
Hot And Sour Soup Sweetcorn And Egg Soup Deep Fried Mushrooms Satay Chicken Green Bean In Black Bean Sauce Prawn Crackers Honey Roast Chicken French Fries Deep Fried Won Ton Vegetable Curry Samosa Chicken On Toast Vegetable Spring Roll Honey Roast Ribs Cauliflower In Oyster Sauce Salt & Pepper Prawn Chicken Curry Thai Style Fish Balls Black Pepper Beef with Mushroom Mushroom Omlettes Lamb Curry Indian Style Cabbage In Oyster Sauce Singapore Fried Noodle Honey Roast Chicken Wings Szechuan Roast Pork Honey Roast Pork Capital Spare Ribs Steamed Rice Chicken Balls Thai Style Fried Rice Sweet & Sour Chicken Sesame Prawn Toasts Satay Sauce Black Pepper Mushroom Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings Salt & Pepper Mushroom Crab Sushi BBQ Pork Sushi
All these dishes seemed very fresh and are replenshied as soon as is necessary, if not before, its that work ethic again.
Although at busy times the queues can be quite large, due to the lay out and number of options things seem to move along very well.
The secret to any eat as much as you like buffet I feel is little and often rather than piling your plate Everest style.
As well as the buffet, which you can visit as often as you wish, the Staff keep coming around with the Brazilian Flame Cooked Carvery: A selection of freshly roasted meats, carved at your table from their own Brazilian Spit Roast
And also they have Teppanyaki: Freshly prepared produce cooked to your tastes in front of you by their highly experienced chefs.
You select your selection from fresh Ingrediants then take them to the Bar where the Chefs are waiting to cook to order.
A good sweet selection is also available
Strawberry Cheesecake Fresh Fruits / Plums / Bananas / Mandarin Oranges Black Forest Gateau Toffee Apple & Banana Jelly Ice Cream Mixed Fruit Salad Sweets
All in all I truly enjoyable night.
I was also very pleased that no pressure is put on the Table to finish and release the space. Even after finishing the food, we sat for over an hour drinking and conversing with no problem.
There is another like establishment in Nottingham THE BIG WOK, there are reviews on that. I feel that although the Flaming Dragon is a little dearer, The quality of the food is far better, the decor and ambiance is superior and finally those fantastic Staff with their old fashioned WORK ETHIC makes it a far better option.
Advantages: Tapanyaki bar, BBQ, good value wine, friendly staff Disadvantages: None
...06/09/08. I visited the Flaming Dragon in a party of 6. As it was a Saturday we had pre-booked and were glad that we had because it was quite busy. We have eaten at several all you can eat Chjinese buffets in the Sheffield/Nottingham area and have to say that this is the best by far. Yes they did have chips on the menu, but you don't have to eat them, they had at least another 50 other choices. Starters were excellent and they had my favourite, crispy ... ...choose your own fresh meat and it is cooked to order while you wait. They also bring the BBQ selection to your table for you slice and sample as you eat. They even had a surprisingly large range of desserts, not usually a Chinese strength. The wine was good quality and value at £9.95 per bottle.
I suppose the acid test is would we go again and would we recommend it to others, and in both cases it's a definite yes. The staff were superb and friendly. ...

Advantages: Sells english food if you want english food Disadvantages: The whole dinning experience
This restaurant is the worst place I have ever have the misfourtune of eating in. The staff are rude and ignorant, and the food is barely passable. They even had chips and hash browns as a part of the so called chinese buffet. To finish the evening off nicely they then managed to short change me. Not only did they refuse to give me the money they owed me, but they also refused to investigate the matter - even if I was willing to ring back in the ... ...it should be for the night. The only good thing about the experience of eating here is knowing that I now know to never go back there again. I would not recommend it to anyone.
I have been asked to edit my review to make it more balanced and helpful but I don't know what else to say. My boyfriend (who I went with) has now thrown up and is still feeling ill. I am normally not one moan but I really can't find anything good to say about the place. ...

Advantages: Price, Choices of food, Friendly Staff Disadvantages: Some unfriendly staff
I have eaten there many times, and I really love this buffet restaurant. The price is very cheap than anywhere else in Nottingham, comparing to FlamingDragon in the CornerHouse is like £10 per person and here is £5.99 in the lunchtime buffet and £9.99 in the evening buffet, which has more choices of the food. The staffs in there are very nice and friendly that they give you a friendly introduction and express themselves to make you and their customers happy which I would say it is recommended in the East Midlands.
They do announcements to share the customers' occasions if they want it to say it out to the entire restaurant to appreciate them and to enjoy their day. Like Birthdays, Congratulations (for example, engagements, marriages and so much more) and farewells that they will miss their customers. If you don't want to have your ...
