Ive been to this club once. I went last November 03, in the freezing cold with my now ex boyfriend.
Its placed on Matthews Street which is the liveliest street to be out on in Liverpool. The girls wear next to nothing. Ive never seen so much flesh! Lucky my outfit was a bit daring and I cant believe I didnt wear a coat. I must have been mad. The lads wear smart gear lets not forgetting the magic ... ...looks very big and glitzy, with two or three very mean looking blokes on the door - security I think they call it. More like intimidation! (You wouldnt want to get on the wrong side of them anyway). Once they spoke though, seemed friendly enough. If you can understand the accent. They speak so fast, lucky my fella was from near by and translated for me, lol.

On the outside it looks very big and glitzy, with two or three very mean looking blokes on the door - security I think they call it. More like intimidation! (You wouldnt want to get on the wrong side of them anyway). Once they spoke though, seemed friendly enough. If you can understand the accent. ******Club & Fee *********
Before a certain time (b4 10 pm) You get in free - BONUS. After 10pm I think it is about a £5 enterance. Once inside you go down a load of stairs, girls watch your skirt level. As there are men looking up as you walk in. At the bottom of the stair you find yourself in a basement environment. Shocked. Not something you imagined from the outside, but dont let this put you off.
Bar.
It took my fella and I, a good 20 mins to even reach the bar, by that time I was dying of thirst for a drink. The layout of the club/Bar was ok. The staff was quite quick in serving and the price of the drinks were about average. There was bright colours like you would expect from the 70' s, even people dressed up in 70's gear. Always a good giggle at, with the massive wigs and flared troussers. lol.
Seating.
There was a good range of seating facilities, if you was luck y to get one. Some where hard seats others were soft cushioned. Booths with small tables near the toilets.
Toilets.
Yes I have to talk about the toilets, they were clean and smelt nice. There was a good number of cubicles too, cant remember of hand how many. I can however remember the queue wasnt very long. As every girlie knows we dont like queues in the toilets!!! Good use of mirrorrs too, always a good advantage. They had a long mirrorr so you could see the full effect - that impressed me.
Dance Floor Layout.
Mmmmmm now this is a hard one to evaluate as you couldnt see the dance floor. Where it started or where it ended. It was that packed, even the little podiums were packed. It has a little stage about a foot high near the bar too, again packed. Not that anyone cared though, everyone was dancing away quite happily. So I felt there was a great atmosphere !!! People were jivving away and having a ball.
Age Group
There was a wide range in age groups in there. It varied from the 18 year olds right up to the late 40's. I wouldnt say one more than the other. The people in there were friendly and quite chatty. I never once felt uncomfortable.
Let downs.
The main let down I think for this club/Pub is the very low ceiling. If your over 6"2 you'll be lucky if your not ducking most of the night. It did make the place more hot too. Needs some sort of air con or fans.
****Bonus Extras*******
*Men will love Liverpool as the women are somehow more pretty and wear stunning outfits.
* Women, the men are men thats all I can say - wink ;-)
*On some nights there are people coming into the club, who take pictures of couples or groups. They put them into keyrings. At a mere cost of £2-£3, so what a good way to remember those good nights out. Take the moment as they say.
Overall we had a blinding night in there and yes we got the keyring to prove it. I would recommend the club, even with its downfalls as it has such a good environment inside you just wanna party the night away. Club Shuts at 2 am but dont dispear there is always another one open a few steps away.
Thanks for reading this, now go party and try it out .

Advantages: Good atmosphere ,cheap ,great music Disadvantages: Age range!
When my friend first suggested a night out to Flares , i was tempted to say No as i had heard alot of different opinions of it and people telling me that i didnt want to be seen dead in there. But not wanting to turn a night out down , i thought id go and experience it for myself. It is a fairly small club with a dancefloor that when the club is busy can get packed very quickly. They play a good mix of music from the 60's . 70's ,80's and 90's . the prices for drinks are cheap and there is a wide range avalable. there are regular giveaways and the staff are all dressed up.
The only downside is that the people in there tend to be alot older ( im 23 and i felt like the youngest person in there!) howver there it has a great atmosphere.
If you like different types of music from the past then get down there and boogie!! ...
Advantages: Excellent music! Excellent offers on drinks! Disadvantages: Very small dance floor
If you hate going out because all the clubs play chart music, now you can go somewhere that is different - Flares.
Flares has 56 clubs around the UK, and is fast becoming popular! They describe themselves as the "Funkiest, grooviest big night out!" - which is right in Swansea!
Flares is set in a prime location in the town centre - on the same road as numerous other clubs and a few pubs. It is easily accessible by bus, and there is a taxi rank across the road. Just across the road is a selection of take-aways (for closing time!), and there are many cash points nearby.
Anyway... the music range is from the 60s up to the 90s and is always funky! Unfortunately for me, towards the end of the night, they do play more modern songs - but everyone likes different things I suppose! A typical playlist would be:
Boogie Nights - Heatwave ...

Advantages: Good cheesy 70's music Disadvantages: That's all they play
dedicated to that era. And lo and behold, in the place that used to be called the West Street Hotel (funnily enough, on West Street), Flares opened (now moved to Carver Street).
Walking in in the middle of the day is quite strange. The bar is decorated in psychadelic, swirling colours - quite hard on the eye in the harsh light of day. But at night, it comes alive.
No surprise that they play 70's tunes non-stop - not just the ones that are done to death, like Abba, Village People and the like - but also some old classics, that you'd forgotten you knew the words to. There's a really good atmosphere in the pub - as soon as you walk in, you know its not like lots of "posey" bars that you get in Sheffield. People are friendly, sing-a-long to the songs and even have a bop. It puts you in a good mood, especially if you're ending up in one ...
