Put together six stand up comedians. Hold them all together by a relatively competent host who also is a pretty accomplished comedian. Get them to discuss the current affairs of the week, and you?ve got yourself Mock The Week.
Shown on BBC Two, and religiously on Dave (would you expect anything else?!), it?s hosted by Dara Ó Briain ? an irish comedian who has done several appearances on several other comedy panel shows such as Have I Got News For You and Never Mind The Buzzcocks. Regular panelists include Hugh Dennis, Andy Parsons, Russell Howard and Frankie Boyle?or that was until last week when Boyle declared he wished to leave the show to ?persue? other ideas. Dare I suggest his own comedy programme? I think so.
They sieve through various topics of the week in a variety of ways ? one round is ?If this is the answer, what is ...

Advantages: An easy to read summary of the week's main news stories Disadvantages: Not for those who like their news in detail
A copy of The Week landed on my doorstep this morning, it wasn't addressed to anyone, just had an extra cover saying "Claim a further 6 FREE issues". Well before I go clogging up my doormat I thought I'd better have a good read of it to see what it was all about for myself (having only recently read another review here at Ciao about the same publication). Advantages: Original baroque style folk/rock, groundbreaking album Disadvantages: Originality can challenge some people's mainstream tastes
Now I don't often write music reviews, however having recently bought the Fleet Foxes album, I am compelled to rave about them.
Now this band are like no other in todays music, however I guess there comparisons can be made with an earlier more ecletic mix of crosby stills and nash mixed with fleetwood mac, add a smuttering of Brian Wilson from the beach boys and Bob Dylan and your kinda getting close.
Their routes are definietly in folk music, with what I like to call "Peasant Rock"......weired I know, but its really hard to pigeon hole them and essentially this is why I like them so much. Originality in todays music is the holy grail and much like one of my other favourite bands Sigur Ros, Fleet Foxes stand alone with a unique blend of folky pop/rock.
