Great location
Advantages: Great location Disadvantages: A bit dated
On August 2009, my husband and I went to Florence with 2 other friends. We flew with Lufthansa from Frankfurt to Florence Amerigo Vespucci Airport, and it took us about an hour to get there. The air ticket was about £80 per person which is quite reasonable and not too expensive. When we arrived, we went straight to the bus station to catch the bus to Santa Maria Novella train station. The cost of the ticket was EUR4.50 per person, which is cheaper ... ...When we arrived into the train station, we took our suitcase and started walking towards the hotel. The hotel is located in the city centre which is right next to the Duomo. We took about 10 to 15 minutes to get to the hotel under 36°C. It wasn’t a pleasant at all, but we made it to the hotel. Arrival When we arrived we had to get a lift to the first floor to the reception area. The lady at the check-in desk was really nice and the check-in process ...

The low-down on this hotel
Advantages: Clean, comfy, good breakfast Disadvantages: May not be worth paying full price for
...we ended up at the Hotel Alamanni.
OVERVIEW:
The Hotel Alamanni is a three-star hotel located very near to Florence's main train station and about a 15 minute walk from the major tourist attractions. The hotel has 17 guest rooms and 2 suites. There are no business or sporting facilities, but breakfast is provided in the lounge area.
LOCATION: The hotel is located on the Via Alamanni, a road that runs along the side of the main train station- Santa ... ...find, but the hotel is a bit hidden away. It's actually located on the second floor of an office block at Number 35. You just go into the building and up the stairs (Although there is a small lift if you have a lot of luggage) to the second floor. It's not particularly hard to find, as long as you find the right road, make your way to number 35, and keep your eye out for the signage. It's about a fifteen minute stroll to the Duomo and the major tourist ...

hotel athenaeum, florence
Advantages: clean, comfortable, good value, well located hotel Disadvantages: breakfast could be improved, no bath in some if not all rooms
...having booked a flight and hotel deal through expedia for £140pp for 2 nights, we were surprised at the bargain price for a 4 star rated hotel. on expedia.co.uk, it says that the hotel is well located, within walking distance of all the major attractions of florence. On first entering the hotel, the first thing you notice is the lovely sheek modern interior, then you're greeted by the very friendly staff. First impressions were good. They were knowledgable ... ...would expect from a decent hotel room was there, mini bar, tv, electronic safe, air con and a huge wardrobe. Our only minor quibble with the room is that there is no bath, only a shower.
Our package included a buffet breakfast. This consisted of croisants, buns, a good selection of hams and cheeses and the usual diary products. All perfectly tasty and great for starting the day with. I think some of us brits may miss the opportunity to have a hot ...

Nice, but expensive for what you get!
Advantages: Nice location, plenty of facilities Disadvantages: Expensive, unfriendly, very uncomfortable for camping in a tent
Camping Panoramico Fiesole is over priced and over-regulated. More expensive than the average youth hostel is abroad, the ground is so hard it is impossible to even break the surface with a tent peg. The ground is also very stony and therefore deeply uncomfortable unless you have an air-bed or similar. Don't plan on camping unless you have something to weigh your tent down with!
For those who do not enjoy camping in tents, there is the facility ... ...do not know whether this option is good value for money in terms of quality.
The campsite facilities are relatively decent, quite clean but not really of the standard one would expect for the money you pay. There is access to a free ironing room and reception states that you can recharge your mobile for free, although it appears that to plug anything into the electrics you need to borrow a special plug converter from reception.
There is a very ...

Average Hotel
Advantages: Clean, reasonably priced Disadvantages: Bus ride to central Florence
Right off the motorway this hotel is easy to find and convient if you are travelling around. It is not in the centre of Florence but they do provide a free shuttle bus for the journey which takes between 10 and 15 mins depending on trafic. The hotel is clean and tidy. There is a small gift shop and resturant, where the food was nice but over priced and expensive for Italy.
The rooms were clean and a resonably good size, although they look straight ...
