The Florida mall is huge!
On a recent trip to Orlando we had some time to go and look around the Florida mall (just under 2hours to be exact) which is nowhere near enough time to do everything you want to do!

The Florida mall is huge!
On a recent trip to Orlando we had some time to go and look around the Florida mall (just under 2hours to be exact) which is nowhere near enough time to do everything you want to do!
They have lots of stores that we just don't have in the UK such as Macy's, Sears, Sks Fifth Ave, Pottery Barn, Sephora, and Forever 21 to name just a small few and it is easy to get so excited by some of these stores that you could easily spend the whole day in there and still need to come back to go into stores that you missed previously!
Upon entering you'll notice that everywhere is very clean and the floor is tiled all nicely and it is actually not very busy (weekday -around 2pm ish) but whether it would be very busy at weekends I'm not sure!
The stores are all laid out on either side with little stalls sometimes down the centre with lots of benches to sit and rest at dotted around.
The mall has lots of places to eat and you can get a takeaway or have a full service meal depending on what kind of food you are after etc. I ate from a takeaway which served sub rolls and it was very tasty and not expensive either at just under $4 for the roll and a large drink
The beauty of Florida Mall is that a lot of the stores have discounts in them so you can always find a bargain! The most amazing store I found was the M&M world shop - filled with goodies and absolutely loads of different coloured M&M'S that you can't get here in the UK - brilliant!
Overall there are over 260 stores so I'm sure something for everyone and best of all parking is free! To actually get to the mall it would be best if you had your own car as if you didn't I'm not sure it would be that easy to get to, especially if you were staying in one of the Disney or Universal hotels. However if you can get to it or the opportunity comes up to make a visit I would highly recommend that you go as even those who don't like shopping are sure to like it here as without lots of crowds it is a very nice chilled out shopping experience.
The mall is open 10am - 9pm Monday to Saturday and 12pm - 6pm on Sundays.

This shopping mall was our favourite. It was very easy to get to, although it must be said you need to have a car. Public transport in and around Orlando is not the best. The car park is huge and there is plenty of space.
The Mall itself is big and bright and has so many shops there is something for everyone. There are quite a few Department Stores including Maceys, Sears, JC Penney, Saks at 5th Avenue and Dillards. I loved Dillards - they had so ... ...was lots of specialist shops and also some well known ones such as Abercrombie and Fitch, Origins, The Apple Store, Diesel, Gap, Guess, the biggest M & M store I have seen - I could go on. There was even a store which sold surfing gear which had a man made surf area complete with water and surf which you could pay to go on. We had loads of fun watching the people doing this. There was also a lovely Pet Accessory Shop which sold delightful gourmet ...

...but I DO like the Florida Mall, and it is shopping all under one roof. I reckon Florida Mall must epitomize the typical American shopping experience, and is unlike most of the places we have in the UK, unless you get to Lakeside or the Trafford Centre. But with the exchange rate where it is, we would have been foolish not to have taken advantage of the savings we could make on shopping whilst in the US, and because we were in Orlando just before ... ...of "expensive" to me, the Florida Mall offered us regular punters everyday stores, with everyday merchandise at everyday prices (and better). As an example, we bought a digital camera and an IPod, both of which were half the price of the same item in UK Sterling when we got back home! You can also pick a coupon book up from the information desk although I have to admit we didn't use many of the coupons on this occasion. We called in to Florida Mall ...

Florida Mall was easy to find, easy to park and free guide leaflet made it easy to navigate too.
There is everything you could possibly want for a full on shopping experience...in fact we had such fun here we ended up having to buy an aditional suitcase to carry all our bounty home with us!
Clean and bright with great facilities, including seating for the foot weary, it was a pleasure to wander through the mall sampling the delights of retail therapy ...

...I have stayed at this hotel 3 times over 5 years and will most definately use this hotel on any future visits. Its great value for money and gives you the feel that you are part of the magic. The hotel is decorated with huge Disney film characters from 101 Dalmations and Toy Story. There is a huge Mighty Ducks themed Duck pool as well as a Fantasia pool.
ROOMS
The rooms are basic but very clean and of a modest size. (more than enough room to store all of your floridamall shopping) Very effective air conditioning. Hair dryer. TV. Internet access is available but at a charge (I have neverhad time to use this). Irons and Ironing boards. With in the complex there are also washing machines and tumble dryers (a couple of dollars to use)

...yourself buffet Breakfast and Dinner dining at silly fixed prices like $3.99 for Breakfast and $8.99 for Steak and Shrimp Dinners all eat as much as you like..
The shops sell just about anything you need, and the chemists (Wallgreens) are 24 hours with the facility to transfer your precription from the UK if you have forgotten to bring one...FloridaMall is just along Sandlake road as short drive from I-drive for those who need a much longer shopping fix..
at the bottom of I-Drive is Seaworld, Midway is the Mercado Centre ( a small Mexican Themed Shopping Centre with a British Pub ) and further up from the Mercado Centre towards Belz is Wet and Wild great fun for all the family and Belz factory outlet marks the top of I-drive..
For those of you staying at any hotel on I-Drive a car is not really required there are plenty of Busses...

...I love Orlando and have been six times. Whilst the theme parks are great fun, although a bit pricey it is the shops that relly make my holiday. Within easy reach of International drive there is the Belz factory outlet which is huge and sells everything and also the FloridaMall. Now these make for a real shopping experience with prices normally 30% below UK ones. I always have to buy another suitcase to bring all the booty home! So go shop America. Don't be tempted by the cheap electrical goods though, remember our electric supply is different....
