Advantages: beautiful groomed and challenging course Disadvantages: luxury has its price
The logo of Fontana GC in Lower Austria is a spring (in Latin "fontana"). That says it all about the element of water dominating this splendid course. Five times in a row has the Fontana Resort achieved the laurels of Austria´s prime golf location. Drive down the A2 south from Vienna and some 30 minutes later you´ll find yourself in an American styled resort that offers not only just the best available golf facilities with excellent teaching staff ... ...to birdie this monster.
Fontana GC´s 19th hole facilities are impressive, wide terraces rise above the lake and the restaurant itself delivers excellent food and drinks. Last time I played the Vienna Giant Wheel Scramble, went into the lake after a real hot round to chill down and stormed the buffet afterwards, a tombola, dancing to live country music and fireworks completed this perfect day.
