The food is lovely, vegetarian and there is a wide selection to chose from. The best item on the menu, is a taster plate, which allows you to choose a bit from a few different dishes. That is good if you are unsure about vegetarian food, or if you cant make up your mind as to what to choose!
It opperates a buffet style of serving, this is a good point to it. Its vegan friendly, which is also a plus, and the staff are friendly. However, the downside is that sometimes its difficult to find seatings, however, this situation has improved, and there are more tables now than before.
It is fully licensed. The food is very reasonably priced, and also, if you are a member of the vegetarian society, you get a discount. The desserts are gorgeous too!
Advantages: reasonably priced, delicious veggie and vegan food, friendly atmosphere. Disadvantages: menu doesn't change very frequently
Food for Friends in Brighton is a lovely restaurant near the seafront. I thought I would write a review on it because the only other review written appears to be a little out of date. The style has changed, it is no longer a buffet style restaurant and hasn't been for some time, it is now a restaurant with menus and a waiter/waitressing service. The decor in the restaurant is very rustic, a nice relaxing setting for an afternoon light lunch, or tea ... ...a tasty dinner.
The food in this restaurant is lovely. I haven't visited that many times because I don't live very near to Brighton, however, I will make the couple of hours journey down there just to get hold of some decent vegan food! The only thing that disappoints me about the restaurant is the fact that the menu doesn't seem to change very often. Meals that don't particularly appeal to me, such a chocolate bean mole, are frequents on the menu. ...

Our favourite restaurant in Brighton ! Bistro Vino has a friendly atmosphere, fabulous food and is outstanding value for money. Located in Preston Street, its a stone's throw (or should that be pebble's throw!) from the sea front, next to the main shopping street. The fayre is Italian, with fresh seafood a speciality, of course. But the special Menu of the day is a real bargain, and all the food is of the highest standard.
A charming bistro - perfect after a busy day on the beach or shopping.
And then, why not do as we do, and take a lesiurely stroll along the seafront to walk off a wonderful meal. ...
and alternative bars that you can find in Brighton. The overall atmosphere is loud, raucous, smoky but friendly.
During the day food is served, basic fare sandwiches, cold salads and the clientele is mainly made up of office workers from nearby business or off duty postmen from the nearby Brighton main post office.
In the evening the pub undergoes a transformation and becomes like a surreal auditioning room for a version of Brit-Pop idol. Many strange haircuts can be seen and some decidedly second hand studenty fashion. However the pub is not solely frequented by would be Brit Pop and alternative rock fans often you can see the real thing. I've personally have seen Gaz from Supergrass drinking here on occasion as well as some of the members of the now defunct James.

Bed and breakfasts provide a nice way to see Brighton at a relatively affordable rate. Hotels tend to be considerably more expensive, and the appeal of being served a full meal by a chef is limited, indeed. Youth hostels are an extremely affordable way to stay over, and apparently quite safe. You'll meet panhandlers regardless of where you go, but they have the typical Brightonesque politeness and restraint.
The best food in Brighton is by far the ethnic cuisine. Give the variety of regional Indian restaurants a try. I've personally enjoyed the Middle Eastern restaurants available on Western Road. Chinese is solid food, and the adventurous might want to give Korean restaurants a try. Brighton provides plentiful vegetarian options. Be amused, not frustrated ...
