Helencbradshaw is entering Sports Journalism with a bang to celebrate the start of the Formula One Motor Racing season, beginning in Melbourne Australia. The date – 9th March 2003. The circuit is Albert Park, Melbourne; a circuit which is partly a road circuit, as well as having the setting of the park itself. The back drop is Melbourne’s CBD and St Kilda Road area. The Grand Prix Australia has been at the Melbourne circuit for several years now, and is also the date that most F1 fans wait for, from the previous October, as we can look forward to motor racing approximately every two weeks ... more

Advantages Advantages The atmosphere, sound, sight and smell of Formula One racing

Disadvantages Disadvantages In this particular race - the qualifying was the only disappointment

With the second round of the Formula One Season now completed I figured it was high time to finish this opinion on the previous round. As I mentioned once or twice in my previous opinion, my recent excursion to Melbourne was primarily to watch the Australian Grand Prix which is obviously the focus of this opinion. Rather than give to much information about the race itself as I'm sure anybody who is interested in what happended either watched or read about it and those that aren't interested quite blatantly don't care and are probably wondering why they are actually reading this. This opinion ... more

Advantages Advantages Exciting early action , great for minnows

Disadvantages Disadvantages Too many big players out at start

Australian GP 2002 §§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§ Oh look the first op of the new Grand Prix season , and it's by me- what an honour . Oh what a start to the Grand Prix season - incident packed , dramatic yet almost predictable ! Qualifying was spoilt by rain that persisted for the last 40 minutes of the one hour window . Sato of new team Yahama , failed to qualify due to mecanical problems which only enabled him to do a few laps in the rain . However he had shown enough speed in the previous free practice to be given wild card entry by FIA . As per usual Ferrari showed pure timing perfection and managed to ... more

    Advantages Advantages Some racing

Disadvantages Disadvantages Someone died, hence lowest possible score

Hi everyone and welcome to my first opinion on the 2001 Formula One season. I’m aiming to write one for each race (Though the dreaded exams may mean I have to have a break). For each race I’ll identify three drivers that are ‘heroes’ and three that are ‘villains’ as well a hero team and a villain team as well as giving my general opinion on the. Right then, that over let’s get stuck in. * The Results – Finishing Order Isn’t Everything * Once again controversy enters Formula One as the order the cars finished doesn’t match the official ... more

Advantages Advantages First race of the year.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Hard to overtake, mainly slow corners.

The FIA 2002 World Championship kicks off shortly at the Albert Park circuit in downtown Melbourne, Australia. I decided to kill some time while I wait for the battle to commence by writing some hopefully interesting information for other fans of the sport. The track is located in a large park in the city centre and has hosted Grand Prix six times since 1996, when McLaren were dominant. I'll describe a lap of the track to you, for the hardened F1 fans really, other people who think F1 is simply a load of cars driving around in circles can skip this bit if they like! After the short-ish ... more
