A Prancing Horse, A Scot, A Fin and a Columbian

Advantages: Exciting
Disadvantages: Melbourne is too far away

...celebrate the start of the Formula One Motor Racing season, beginning in Melbourne Australia. The date – 9th March 2003.

The circuit is Albert Park, Melbourne; a circuit which is partly a road circuit, as well as having the setting of the park itself. The back drop is Melbourne’s CBD and St Kilda Road area. The Grand Prix Australia has been at the Melbourne circuit for several years now, and is also the date that most F1 fans wait ...
...and last year in particular, Formula 1 has been slated for being boring, predictable, fixed, lacking in excitement, dominated by Ferrari, etc. So over the winter months, the executives have been reconsidering some of the rules that govern the sport. Viewers of the sport were drifting away and Bernie Ecclestone’s digital TV channel was not very successful either, although £12 to watch a badly commented race could have been the reason for that.

The Fast and the Furious Formula One Style

Advantages: The atmosphere, sound, sight and smell of Formula One racing
Disadvantages: In this particular race - the qualifying was the only disappointment

...the second round of the Formula One Season now completed I figured it was high time to finish this opinion on the previous round. As I mentioned once or twice in my previous opinion, my recent excursion to Melbourne was primarily to watch the Australian Grand Prix which is obviously the focus of this opinion. Rather than give to much information about the race itself as I'm sure anybody who is interested in what happended either watched or read about ...
...that there would be no Formula One cars on display on day one. I was almost like a kid at Christmas and this enthusiasm only grew as I heard the impressive throaty roar of a V8 engine fire up in the distance. We quickly made our way through the Gate 10 and proceeded to the Schumacher stand located between the final two corners of the circuit and just before the home straight. The view from the stand does not allow you to see a huge amount of the ...

BANG , 2002 season starts with a bang

Advantages: Exciting early action , great for minnows
Disadvantages: Too many big players out at start

Australian GP 2002 §§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§ Oh look the first op of the new Grand Prix season , and it's by me- what an honour . Oh what a start to the Grand Prix season - incident packed , dramatic yet almost predictable ! Qualifying was spoilt by rain that persisted for the last 40 minutes of the one hour window . Sato of new team Yahama , failed to qualify due to mecanical problems which only enabled him to do a few laps in the rain . However he had ...
...given wild card entry by FIA . As per usual Ferrari showed pure timing perfection and managed to get both drivers out at the right time , to maximise starting positions . The others had a mixed blessing . Final starting grid positions as follows : 1) R. Barachello (Ferrari) 2) M.Schmacher (Ferrari) 3) R.Schmacher (Williams BMW) 4) D.Coulthard (McClaren) 5) K.Raikkonen (McClaren) 6) J.P.Montoya (Williams BMW) 7) J.Trulli (Renault ( prev. ...

A race marred by tragedy

Advantages: Some racing
Disadvantages: Someone died, hence lowest possible score

...first opinion on the 2001 Formula One season. I’m aiming to write one for each race (Though the dreaded exams may mean I have to have a break). For each race I’ll identify three drivers that are ‘heroes’ and three that are ‘villains’ as well a hero team and a villain team as well as giving my general opinion on the. Right then, that over let’s get stuck in. * The Results – Finishing Order Isn’t ...
...a decent engine and some more time I think Minardi could surprise a few people. * Team Villain * Benetton: That was pathetic, yes you have a new car with a revolutionary engine but are sure it’s not a Formula Three car? More in two weeks… ...

Going Around In Circles

Advantages: First race of the year.
Disadvantages: Hard to overtake, mainly slow corners.

The FIA 2002 World Championship kicks off shortly at the Albert Park circuit in downtown Melbourne, Australia. I decided to kill some time while I wait for the battle to commence by writing some hopefully interesting information for other fans of the sport. The track is located in a large park in the city centre and has hosted Grand Prix six times since 1996, when McLaren were dominant. I'll describe a lap of the track to you, for the hardened ...
...a load of cars driving around in circles can skip this bit if they like! After the short-ish start/finish straight the drivers brake hard from 180mph to the slow, 70mph right hander, Jones and then they accellerate immediately through the left hander Brabham which eases onto a flat out section of track. Of course you will know Jones (Alan) and Brabham (Jack) are well known Aussie F1 world champions of the past. The next straight is quite short ...

The first should be the best but not this year

Advantages: The first Gp is always one of the best and the 2001 race was no exception
Disadvantages: The death of a marshall which should have been prevented after Monza 2000

I know, I know. It has come a bit late - well 8 months late but here it is, the complete guide to the Australian GP 2001. Remember good writing knows no age. By the way watch out for my reports on other GP's too So here we are in Australia and we are 4 months down the line from when we saw Michael Schumacher take the Malaysian GP win and with it the title. But 2001 is the year for change. With new regulations and new drivers the 2001 season will ...
...better place to hold a GP opener than at the Albert Park, Melbourne, Australia. Renowned for being well organised and exciting round 1 promises to be an absolute blast. THE HISTORY OF THE AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX Despite the Melbourne GP always being so well organised it has only been a permanent fixture in the elusive F1 calender since 1996. It was in 1985 when Australia joined the race by hosting their round of the world championship at Adelaide ...
