Button undone in Malaysia

Advantages: Great race with all the action of F1
Disadvantages: Button should have been third

I have kept to my promise to bring you the full account of the Malaysian GP 2002 – enjoy….

It was the talking point of the Sunday morning after the Australian GP and while it was Michael Schumacher who came away with victory, it had to be Aussie Mark Webber who grabbed the hearts and headlines of the race. His stunning 5th place is more than a miracle for Minardi who have struggled to touch the top 6 since 1999 and haven’t ...
...the circus moves north of Australia to the state of the art Sepang circuit in Malaysia, Asia. The track has only been on the calendar since 1999 but has become a firm favourite with the drivers with it’s challenging curves and stunning complex.

Once again Michael Schumacher will be gunning for victory to stretch his lead, but his biggest rival could be his brother who lined up next to him last year and looked menacing in Australia ... more

Pack your umbrella - Updated

Advantages: Very exciting race
Disadvantages: Why does Schumi have to win so often?

As always with my F1 opinions I’ll be identifying three drivers that are heroes and three that are villains as well as a hero team and a villain team. I’ll also be giving my general opinion on the race itself. Before I start I just want to apologise if this is a little less coherent then the Melbourne review, I watched the GP with a few friends of mine and copious amounts of alcohol and food were consumed. I’m currently recovering ...
...opinion. * The Results – A few missing drivers * As yet there has been no controversy over the finishing order as there was in Australia. But a few notable drivers didn’t make it into the points – here’s briefly why. It rained. Most drivers who disappeared did so because the heavens opened in a most tropical style resulting in the safety car coming out. More on this later. 10 - Michael Schumacher (Ferrari) 6 - Rubens Barrichello ...

The 2001 Season Unfolds

Advantages: A good circuit, goos overtaking opportunities, very safe, excellent facilities.
Disadvantages: Yet to provide an outstanding race.

...second round of the 2001 Formula One World Championship take place on 18th March. While the first race of the year has provided some insight into the 2001 levels of competition between teams, expect the second event to help clarify the picture considerably. It is here that the likely direction of the title battles will unfold. The Sepang circuit itself is the second newest circuit on the F1 calendar, purpose-built for introduction in 1999. The 5.5km ...
...regarding the future development of Formula One cars. The Sepang circuit is an impressive facility, and is probably one of the best used on the Formula One calendar. The pits are spacious, the track generally smooth and the safety precautions almost entirely first rate – the only worry is the slightly short run-off area at the first turn. The main start/finish area is dominated by gigantic grandstands, offering a superb view of turn 15, the ...

Malaysian GP Preview

Advantages: Promises to be a great race
Disadvantages: None

So after Australia's thrilling first installment in the 2003 championship race the next stop is Sepang, Malaysia. Can DC and McLaren capatilse on their winning start? Will Raikkonen secure his madien victory? Can Michael Schumacher get back to his winning ways? How bad really is that Williams? Will Jenson tell Jacques to Button it? Will the car in front of the rest be a Toyota? Just so many questions to be answered, but one thing for sure this ...
...So what are going to be the main factors which could influence the outcome of Sunday's race? Well that obviously going to be the weather and tyres. The Sepang circuit is one which tends to generate alot of heat into the tyres with track temperatures getting nearer 50 degrees if the temperature is hot. This is going to benefit the Michelin runners, McLaren, Williams, Renault and Toyota as their tyres have traditionally performed better in the hot ...

Canopies on the grandstand.

Advantages: Great facilities and racing.
Disadvantages: Unpredictable weather.

...the location of the Malaysian Formula 1 Grand Prix. When you think of Malaysia it is not a country that you would expect to be a location for an F1 race on the programme of the Grand Prix world championship events. However, the Sepang circuit has the most magnificent modern facilities with very impressive multi-level grandstands topped with canopies to protect the spectators from the searing sunlight. The heat is a major factor at this circuit as ...
...mid-thirties (degrees Centigrade) and the track temperature to be in the mid-forties. These temperatures make the race very demanding on the drivers and tests their stamina to the full. It is essential for all the drivers to drink as many fluids as possible before the start in order to prevent dehydration during the 90 minute race. In stark contrast to the heat is when it rains at Sepang. The rain can come down like a monsoon, with very little warning ...

The Silverstone experience

Advantages: Britain’s Best, Great Track, Okay Facilities, Good Transport Routes, The History
Disadvantages: A Bit Old, Rocky Car Parks, Long Walks, Expensive Experience

of journalists typing away at their reports and sending them via the phone lines there and the internet. >>The Chequered Flag Overall, it was a good day’s out, albeit slightly expensive. My advice is of you get the chance, and don’t live too far away, go! Don’t plan to do too much, it is tough to get from A to B around the track. 90% of the track is not 21st century, but that is expected to be honest, I was never expecting to enter the Sepang circuit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. You also have less access for the Formula 1 event, this is an important consideration to make when deciding whether to go. You’ll have a good days out, but you probably won’t know what happened precisely in the race, something I am so used to. Given the chance to go again, I would wish for car-park pass, and maybe entry into one ...
