Fortaleza is the capital of the State of Ceara, one of the less developed of Brazil. Fortaleza is a very large and modern city. I spent1 day there guest of a German student who was doing a research on the life of the local people in a favela (shantytown). The lack of hygene was one of the major issues for this people, together with the lack of education and employment. Strikingly enough, a relatively large number of houses had satellite TV, while the ordinary TV was to be found in the majority of properties and as constantly on. There are nice beaches only 20KM away form the city and you should go to a place where they dance Forro, the local dance.
Advantages: location Disadvantages: price x quality
I would like to inform you that the Gran Marquise Hotel, Fortaleza ? Brazil, never could be rated as a luxury hotel, based on international evaluation. I was there recently and I
suggest you to make sure the information about this hotel are in conformity with your expectations and quality control.
When we arrived there, they were confused about our reservation. Then, our suite junior was dirty and fetidness and the drawers were very hard to open .
We ordered a sandwich that took 20 minutes to come, and it was ill-favoured and the french fries were cold.
In my opinion, the swimming pool area is very poor and ill-kept, and the service there was beneath our expectations.
In my opinion, the quality falls short of the price. We can find very better hotels with the same price. ...

All the complex is called "FORTALEZA DEL CEROO" and it has a very historic importance.
We go to "PRISO 24 DE LA INTENDENCIA", we take a panoramic lift to reach the terrace from where we can have a breathtaking view of the whole Montevideo, from the bay to downtown with its parks and "Ramblas".
Montevideo is an array of old (18th century) and new (very modern skyscrapers) without many interests for those people that are looking for history, art and architecture. A full visit will take only two days.
As a counterbalance the beaches of Montevideo are very beautiful, clean and with an extension as ...

and animal friend. The pantanal is an immense wet area in south america and half as big as France. You can travel to the pantanal in the dry season between april and september, of course with a landrover only. For people with a bigger portemonnaie an airplane is the right way to travel there.
And another tip of unbelievable wonderful nature: the south of Brasil, the state Rio Grande do sul, with the national parc Aparados da serra. The main attraction in there is the itaimbezinho, a phantastic canyon, whose walls are 700 m tall; two waterfalls are there besides of amazing impression. Another attraction of this national parc is the canyon da fortaleza, 30 km long and 900 m deep. Simply breath-taking!
A fly to Brasil costs from Frankfurt/Germany direct to Rio de Janeiro about 900 Euros (2 ways). The cheapest way to spend the night are ...
