The Forum Hotel in Kensington is situated in a nice area, close to most popular attractions in London. As you enter the 70's/60's reception hall, it looks less and less pleasing than the outside. You see a reception on your right and straight in front of you a kind of Carribean bar/cafe. As you go upstairs, the first floor has a restaurant and a conference hall. The chandaliers in the Conference Hall are definiately 70's or 80's and it isn't a very big hall at that. The rooms are OK with the normal furnishings you would expect from any hotel, but they are nothing special. The food there tastes nice and I think that is the one thing I enjoyed there.
Advantages: Location. Value for money. Disadvantages: Getting a bit delapidated.
Much as though the bathrooms in particular are becoming rather dilapidated, this hotel still represents good value for its price band. It is the tallest Hotel in London. The rooms themselves are good. The beds are comfortable, but occasionally I have found dirty fridges with leftover food inside. They assured me they would tighten up on this, as I had this same problem on more than one occasion.
The common areas have recently been refurbished and ... ...evenings. It is used by quite a few airline staff.
It is located just off the Cromwell and Gloucester Roads, SW7 and has close access to the tube (2 minutes) and thus Heathrow Airport, as well as being on lines which take you to the City, Victoria (for Gatwick) and the West End. Buses are not so good (only 2 routes I think), but taxis are always available.
Close to many museums.
