I have just come back from Paris having spent 2 nights at the France Louvre. This is my review....
Location
The best part of staying at the France Louvre was the location, right in the centre of Paris with great transport links. Metro station 'Chatelet- Les Halles' is only a 5-min walk away and seems to be a main station of Paris. The location of this Hotel is particularly useful if you are travelling on Eurostar as Chatelet station is only one stop away from the Gard Du Nord Eurostar terminal (Line B - Blue line).
Also if you are visiting Stade De France this is only two stops away on the same line. After a game at the Stade De France you can be back to the hotel within 15 minutes providing you don't get caught up in queues!!
This hotel is also a couple of minutes away from the Seine and around 10 minutes walk to the Louvre.
Rue Du Rivoli where the hotel is located is a main shopping street, similar to Oxford Street in London. The shops are mainly large department stores and the usual stores that you see in every city in the world!
Rooms
First of all we were placed in a double room at the very top of the hotel at the back which had a slanted ceiling. As i'm 6ft 4" this wasn't very comfortable!! The room was also very cramped and claustrophobic.
We had actually booked a twin room so we went back down to reception and they found us another room for a small surcharge.
This new room was also on the top floor but at the front of the building. This room was a improvement on the first. There was much more room and a balcony overlooking Rue du Rivoli.
My main fault with the rooms was the decor. It seems as though the rooms and the hotel in general have not been decorated in a while. However they were clean and the bathrooms were very nice and seemed to be more recently decorated.
There are 34 rooms in the France Louvre and all private bathroom, hairdryer, satellite tv (poor quality, around 5 channels!! but do you want to watch tv in Paris??!) phone, radio, safe & mini bar (without alcohol on my visit!!)
Service
Didn't really see many of the staff but the reception staff were very pleasant as were the chambermaids.
Food
We chose not to have breakfast in the hotel as we preffered to go to a cafe so unfortunately cannot comment on the food (The deal we received did not offer breakfast but you can pay around EUR15 from memory)
Value for Money
We paid approx EUR170 for Eurostar from London and two nights at this hotel. Overall i would say that this is good value for money. Their prices booked independently are around EUR90 a night.
Recommended?
Overall i would recommend this hotel. The rooms aren't great but you pay for what you get which is usually not a lot in Paris!! (can be generally very expensive)

Good description of your experience at this hotel, seems a good price too. :-)

I thought this was a review for the Louvre museum at first! (Sorry, i wasn't paying attention). This is a very good review, although I think Paris sometimes suffers with a reputation for being expensive which is not always born out by facts, particularly if you compare it with other capitals or major city. I'm thinking for example of Edinburgh. Thank you for the thorough review.
