Take a Tryp to this hotel Advantages: good food/good service Disadvantages: Only German TV!! ...our hopes pinned on the Tryp hotel. The Tryp hotel is a four star hotel situated 10-15 minutes from the airport, it is in the busy region of Frankfurt -everywhere you look there are hotels. Who did we book with? ````````````````````````````````` We booked with last-minute.com and got our room for 65 Euros per night. I think that this was good, considering the competition and the fact that we were in the very heart of "hotel land" in Frankfurt ... ...things a lot more expensive. Our flight was very pleasant and we arrived at the airport in good spirits. Getting there ``````````````````` Outside the airport we found a taxi to take us to our hotel, first mistake -we should have arranged this with the hotel first as we were charged 20 Euros for a 10 minute car journey....oh well we didn't mind, we were looking forward to our stay!! A spooky stay at the Holiday Inn Frankfurt South Advantages: Friendly staff, reasonable price Disadvantages: Haunted? Not in the centre of town, not very modern, basic rooms ...It is basically your typical Holiday Inn 4 star hotel (not three star as Ciao seems to have it listed) Now don’t laugh, but on my stays I have kept my bathroom light on and pulled the duvet over my head! The hotel does freak me out a bit, a slight atmosphere. It always seems to be very quiet and it’s quite gloomy inside which doesn’t help. I’ve heard all sorts of rumours about guests staying under the reception desk to sleep, to scared to go back ... ...bed with 4 pillows (the Holiday Inn chain also offers a pillow menu with options like goose feather or anti allergen) and was a good, firm bed. A wardrobe, desk, chair and table. I am pleased to report that the television had BBC1 and 2, MTV and Sky News. The room lacked an ironing board, kettle, or trouser press. Apparently the Executive Rooms and Suites offer all these and other luxuries such as robes. There is also a small minibar. I also had ... Best Western Plaza Hotel, Frankfurt Advantages: Central and reasonably priced Disadvantages: far too much choice at breakfast. We stayed in The Best Western Frankfurt Plaza in July 2006 as part of our fabulous summer holiday in Austria and Germany. Not having booked any of the trip I was pleasantly surprised at this hotel in Frankfurt. I was even more pleased due to the rather grotty hostel we had just frequented in Innsbruck, Austria. Anything would have been better than that! Review coming soon. The hotel is a three star and has forty five rooms all easily accessible ... ...to take us to the best area for restaurants and a drink afterwards - we were dropped at the Römerplatz, where the summer festival was in full swing! This taxi journey only took five minutes. As the river is so close it's easy enough to walk along the river to reach the Römerplatz in the evenings and this would only take 10-15 minutes. Frankfurt's Fawlty Towers? Advantages: Great Little Hotel, Superb Location, Excellent Value... Disadvantages: A Few Idiosyncratic Problems ... ...room at the four-star Hotel National online, about a week in advance. We arrived in Frankfurt on the 7th of July 2005, the morning of the London bombings.
