Advantages: Good rail connections, good for the Excel or London City Airport, but not too remote for the city Disadvantages: It's expensive but by London terms, you get a lot for your money.
...check out the Hilton in CanaryWharf.
CanaryWharfCanaryWharf is not like 'real' London so if you are looking for the old world charms of the city and your mental image is based on scenes from Mary Poppins and Oliver Twist, don't go to CanaryWharf. This is London's area of ultra-modern high-rise living and working, built on what were once rough areas of the docklands that were so unattractive that I'm sure I once read that Stanley Kubrick used some of the derelict areas in the nearby Isle of Dogs as sets in one of his Vietnam films. Today CanaryWharf is all shiny glass, metal and concrete with one of the most spectacular Underground stations in London.
FInding the darned place
I thought it would be easy to find. It's called Hilton CanaryWharf so I'd go to CanaryWharf station, step out of the station, look up and spot...

Advantages: Good location. Reputable brand. Delivers a good hotel experience Disadvantages: Could be better. Needs to look to wow the customer.

Booking
I booked the hotel online at Marriott.co.uk. I booked an executive room for £120 per night. This included breakfast and access to the club lounge.
The website was very user friendly and presented all the available options clearly. All that was required was my...

Advantages: Everything. Disadvantages: Large building.
...Wonderful is the word for this hotel. Everything about it is wonderful.
The location is great. South Kensington is safe, clean and central. Kensington high street is a shoppers delight! The Natural History Museum is amazing for adults and children, is free and nearby. You would fill a whole day with a visit there easily. There are a choice of grocery stores and cafes in walking distance and transport links are excellent for bus, tube and cab.
The staff were friendly, welcoming, spoke perfect english, were on hand 24/7 and couldn't do enough for you. The service was 5 star.
The accommodation is modern, clean, fresh, spacious, comfortable, quiet and family friendly. There are fantasic apartments here too with great kitchen facilities.
I think it is also great value for money. It's not the cheapest 4 star place but it is a long...
