The hotel is pretty much everything that you would expect from a British 3*. We arrived early on the Saturday to find that the room wasn't available until 2pm which, although a slight inconvenience, was expected. Luckily they do supply a left luggage room which we able to leave our bags in for the day.
When we did check in we found our room to be of a good standard. The double bed was ... ...was also quite spacious given the price. Unfortunately the view was very poor but then you can't have everything!! There was the usual TV but unlike some hotels this did have some decent sky channels and I was actually able to watch the football while we got ready! The best part of the room was something that I only discovered when leaving, if you have your laptop, Wifi is free.

For Christmas I had decided to take my girlfriend to see the Irish dance show Riverdance and after looking at the dates, settled on throwing in a weekend away in Edinburgh alongside.
I started to look for good yet cheap hotels and was amazed to find very few that I felt it was worth paying for so in the end, settled for one night only at this hotel which is situated just off Princes St.
As is the case with most hotel bookings, I made this one through hotelopia as I can get a discount but the price was still acceptable when compared to similar hotels in the city. It is ideally situated being just a 10-15 min walk from Edinburgh Waverley train station and is just off Princes St, the main street through Edinburgh. It is also ideally located if you catch the airport bus in as there is actually a stop at the end of Frederick St.

When we did check in we found our room to be of a good standard. The double bed was very comfortable, an ensuite bathroom was clean and the room was also quite spacious given the price. The overall decor of the hotel is quite interesting looking like a throw back to the 80s and I have to say that the corridor wall paper was quite sickly, especially after a couple of drinks!
Breakfast was included in the hotel price but the hotel itself does not have cooking facilities. Instead you are given breakfast a small bar/restaurant/hotel across the road. The food was really nice and the sleek modern interior was a stark contrast to the hotel itself. I do have to question the difference between an English and Scottish breakfast!
All in all this hotel was all that we needed for a base during our weekend away. Compared to other hotels in the city is wasn’t too expensive and the rooms were very comfortable for the price. It is probably ideal for anyone who is visiting for a short period and really only do need it as a small base.
