On our recent trip to Dubai we discovered this amazing French cafe. We were staying in Shangri la hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road. (see review on Shangri La-Dubai) On our last night we walked past this café (cafe is located opposite emirates towers) and decided we would come back in the morning, just before we had to check out and make our way to the airport. It’s a 5 minute walk from shangri la and dubai dusit hotel.
The interior is modern and contemporary and the staff are friendly. As we first walked in we were amazed by the huge selection of cakes, pastries and breads. I have never seen so many different breads in my life!
Everything is made fresh on site. They have a custom-made cake service. From what we saw in the show case refrigerator, we were impressed! The cakes were very creative and surely nothing like we have ever seen before.
We ordered a latte, tea and croissants and ate in the café. Total came to less than £5. It was not particularly crowded so we easily found a seat. The food was quick. I bit in to my “still warm, as its just come out of the oven” chocolate croissant, and it was so yummy! That has to be the best chocolate croissant I have ever had. My husband had a cheese croissant, which he seemed very impressed with.
The café does other breakfast items too such as continental breakfast items, pancakes…etc from 7am – 11.30 am. For example a full English fry up costs about £4-5.
After that there are many lunchtime items available – a variety of sandwiches, salads and soups. We never had lunch here unfortunately – because I mentioned earlier, it was our last day.

The café does a takeaway service too. While we were sitting in the café having our breakfast, plenty of people, locals and tourists, came in and ordered takeaway or came top pick up their custom made cakes. The café struck me as the kind of shop that many people don’t know about, but of those that do, they come here all the time.
The café also caters for meetings, birthdays, etc.
We also found that French Connection Café do a home delivery service! Fancy breakfast in bed? Give this lot a call!
I was very impressed with this modern café and would definitely pay it a visit the next time I am in Dubai. I would highly recommend this cafe to anyone who visits Dubai. Especially if you are staying in one of the many hotels on Sheikh Zayed road.
Advantages: Location and atmosphere Disadvantages: None!
...enjoyed the pastries at the French Connection. And the service was outstanding. Especially one waitress in particular, Imelda. She was from the Philippines. The atmosphere was great also as was the coffee. I would highly recommend this coffee shop to anyone visiting Dubai. If and when I visit the UAE again, I will most assuradely stop in for a great breakfast, pastry or just a great cup of coffee.
There was nothing I disliked about the place. It ...
